Should Vols invite Chris Blue to sing Natonal Anthem?

You just sound ignorant of the subject at this point.

All the artists I respect came up honing their chops on the road, not on a TV reality show. I respect your opinion, vollygirl, but in this case my ignorance is the purest bliss.

Blue is a seasoned performer who has toured with his family group for years.

Yeah? How many albums has he made? How have they sold nationwide or worldwide? Not knocking him because I haven't heard him sing a note. He may be an awesome talent. But just because he has been on a crappy TV show shouldn't get him invited to perform at Neyland.

I am not a Dolly fan, but if someone like her was to appear at a game, you can't argue with it.

I wasn't advocating he , or anyone else, should perform at a Vols game. I just said you don't know what you're talking about with regard to the people on the show.

You must not like new artists then. Majority of new artists have no idea of "real tour" life.

Labels find new artists on YouTube now. They can be overnight successes. They'll throw them on a 4 month tour and if they continue success they keep them. If not, it's over for them.

Fair enough.

But I will be a gentleman and not tell you what you can do with that show and others like it. To me, that is barely a cut above of "Here comes Honey Boo Boo." And EXACTLY what I was referring to about blissful ignorance.

At least Jackass was funny once in a while.

You don't have to make an album at all nowadays. 3 music videos with over 1 million views and counting on YouTube can bring home about 20k a month and it goes up every year.

I agree that singing National Anthem inside Neyland should be someone more respectable and more well known.

Chris Blue is still a baby and a nobody among the industry. As of right now, Kelsea Ballerini would be a much better choice.. but even with all her success now, she's not a super star as of yet. Couple of awards will do it though.

Everybody has a different definition of entertainment. Plenty of people hate football. :hi:

There are a few I like, but they have to really impress me. I have a few younger friends who email a YouTube link to a song or we sit on the back porch and listen to a CD while having BBQ and beer. If it's worth it, I buy my own copy.

I have seen a handful of those YouTube demos. Most are too concerned about how they look and not enough for how they sound. I think they are better off doing clubs and honing their sound. That is how you pay your dues. JMO though.

Yeah, now that media is a big thing, the actual music is secondhand. Apps like Triller and Musical.ly (lip sync apps) are making kids famous. A few will write their own song and then because they already have millions of viewers labels would sign them... even when the song itself is terrible.

Good point. All of the Voice contestants songs can be downloaded in ITunes. Many artists in the top 10 are hitting top 10 numbers on itunes too, and they do get proceeds from that, which I imagine is a pretty penny.

Andrew Wentzel sings the Star-Spangled Banner along with the POTS at pregame. Before him it was George Bitzas. It's tradition, & to trifle with it is ludicrious. POTS has indeed had many guest artists perform with them at halftime at UT games. Now if only the band can return to playing SONGS rather than the mindless riffs in the stands, I'll be happy. :whistling:

The Voice?

Well...I'm afraid to say that "The Voice" unfortunately passed about 10 years ago...near his Nashville home...

Agree with everything in this post. The POTS has really gone downhill. It's as if their game plan is "Just play Rocky Top 500 times, toss in some Immigrant Song and everyone will be happy...and for halftime we'll just steal something from Ohio St. from 3 years ago."

I went to school with Chris. He is a Florida fan. Having said that, he is probably the best talent they've had on the Voice in sometime (of course I'm biased), and I would be thrilled if he did the Anthem for the Vols.

He's a music worship leader at Cokesbury UMC in town. He's toured for years and has already sung at MLB games and UT events in the past. But don't let facts get in the way.

Really,... don't let facts get in YOUR way.

One person sings the National Anthem. Andrew Wentzel. He has done it since George Bitzas stopped doing it. It's traditional and it won't and shouldn't change.

No need for a dirty gator to be invited to Neyland for anything except a beatdown like the one 120 gave them last year,

Go Vols!

Chris Blue used to work with the UTPD. His sister is still an officer for 5 years.

Whether you wish for Chris Blue to sing the National Anthem at a Vols football game or not, there's reason enough to give him the benefit of your regard.
