Alabama is a better team than Miami. They played a tougher schedule. Had better wins. And will be favored by Vegas to do better in the playoffs than Miami.

You can hate Bama all you want but these are the facts. The committee got it right. They deserve to be in over Miami.
Miami would score more than 3 points against a bad sooner team.

But no one seems to want to discuss Alabama's horrific losses. Vandy early and then a beat down late in the season by a 6-6 Oklahoma team.

Miami lost to a ranked Syracuse team and to a GA Tech team that took GA to 8 overtimes. But let's don't count the losses.

Alabama is only in because the rest of the contenders for the #12 spot are pure garbage.

The one hit against Alabama is that they can't win on the road. Outside of LSU and Wisconsin, their road performances have been dreadful.

Bama lost to (2) 6&6 teams - simply didn’t earn a seat at the playoff table. Folks should be mad

Well they've earned that benefit of the doubt given they've been the most dominant program in the sport for the last 15 years.

Let's just put it this way. Would you rather face Miami or Alabama in the playoffs? If the answer is Miami then the committee got it right putting the better team in the tournament despite having more losses.
The 2024 playoff selection should be on the body of work in 2024, not a lifetime achievement award.

Nothing Bama has done tells me they are head and shoulders above Miami.

Miami racks up points. Their two losses are by a combined 9 points to GA Tech who took UGA to 8 OTs in Athens and Syracuse whose went 9-3.

Bamas biggest win is UGA, in which they choked away a big lead and needed a video game catch and run from a 17 year old to finish it off. Then promptly lost ugly to Vandy.

This isn’t the Bama of old.
Miami’s best win is….Duke?

I don’t understand how you separate (Alabama, Miami, Ole Miss) from (Penn State/ Notre Dame, Georgia, Ohio State, and Tennessee).

The 3 loss teams have wins over playoff teams. The two loss team does not.

The 2 loss teams have wins over playoff teams. The one loss teams do not.

Inconsistent and unfair seems to be the goal with the CFP.

Boycott the Bama game if they get in. I’d love to see the rest of the country not tune in if it happens. I sure as hell won’t be watching.

I think Ole Miss is the better team and has the higher ceiling . Yes the UK game is an albatross around their neck, but Bama lost to a bad OU team 2 weeks ago by 3 scores for loss # 3.
And Arkansas is an albatross around our neck. We win that game, we win the SEC Championship game and get a # 1 or #2 seed.

They also had worst and more losses than Miami. No 3 loss team that got blown out at OU and Vandy ran up and down the field on them.

I think Oklahoma is better than Georgia Tech and Syracuse despite the 6-6 record. They just played a much tougher schedule like Florida. Also Vandy this year was really good. I'd rate them on the same level as Tech and Syracuse. So I would disagree about Alabama having worse losses. Also don't forget how many close calls Miami had. It's not like they were dominating opponents every week. They needed a controversial review to overturn a Hail Mary from Virginia Tech. They probably should have been a 3 loss team as well.

Once you consider those factors it's easy to see why Alabama got in over them. Alabama had far better wins. Looked less vulnerable week to week. And had arguably better losses.

They play in the SEC while Miami is in the ACC. That alone should tell you everything you need to know. Alabama might not be the Alabama of old by the 4th best team in the SEC will always be better than the 3rd best team in the ACC.

I doesn't bother me much, because this playoff is not meeting the goals that should have been set to name National Championship. It was simply a ploy to sell a sack of crap to the football community to get rid of the previously playoff system. Changes have to be made if we really want a National Champion.

I'd rather play Alabama since we already wiped the floor with them. We don't have the offense to keep up with Miami.

Totally disagree. Playing the same teams twice in the same season is usually a recipe for disaster for the team that won the first game. The loser usually wins the rematch (see Georgia over Alabama in 2021). Or how about Georgia beating Auburn in the SEC Championship Game in 2017 after getting blown out in Jordan Hare. Or how about Alabama shutting down LSU in the 2011 National Championship Game after losing at home earlier that season.

If there's one team I don't want to face it's Alabama. I'll feel better about seeing Georgia in the playoffs than Alabama based on what history says about in-season rematches.
