The committee is subjective a bit bc it’s humans, and sure there is lobbying going on everywhere and that certainly makes a difference. But if you’re a potential bubble team towards the end of the season then you know what you must do. WIN!!!

Miami can fuss all they want, but all they had to do was beat Syracuse and they were in. They lost, so tough luck.

They have 3 wins over ranked opponents. No other team has more in the entire country. You can hate Alabama all you want but the facts are the facts. They have the best resume of all the teams who were in contention for that final spot.
That's a double edged sword. No other team currently in the playoff field or competing with Bama for that final spot have multiple losses to .500 teams, either.

Miami’s best win is….Duke?

Duke would probably beat Arkansas, UK, Miss St, and OU. Maybe even FL back when we played them (who Miami pummeled btw). And they did beat NCST.

Alabama is a better team than Miami. They played a tougher schedule. Had better wins. And will be favored by Vegas to do better in the playoffs than Miami.

You can hate Bama all you want but these are the facts. The committee got it right. They deserve to be in over Miami.
Not arguing, as an SEC fan, but how could Miami play a tougher schedule or have better wins when they reside in the ACC conference? If the ACC conference is too weak to be considered in the championship then whats the point of including them in the competition?

Consider that if the Vols had Bama’s exact record against the same teams, does anyone actually believe the Vols would be in the playoffs? The answer is not just no, but hell to the no.

Pure speculation. What we do know is Duke doesn't recruit better than any of those programs especially Oklahoma and Florida so the chance they beat all those teams is unlikely.

The entire playoff format makes no sense. The gap in talent across college football is too vast to pretend like teams are playing the same sport. So you're right none of this makes any sense. The SEC and Big 10 should just break away and do their own thing like the AFC and NFC of college football inviting teams like Miami and Clemson who recruit at similar levels to join.

I agree, Miami been escaping with wins all year, finally getting exposed. We all know Bama would blow them out head to head. Some other teams can make a case for not getting in, but not Miami

I doesn't bother me much, because this playoff is not meeting the goals that should have been set to name National Championship. It was simply a ploy to sell a sack of crab to the football community to get rid of the pld p[layoff system. Changes have to bromide if we really want a National Champion.

But they are not holding the same criteria for every team. If this is the new norm then just schedule all cupcake games and go
In undefeated. And I’m not completely convinced bama is better than Miami. I’ve watched them play most of the season and bama just isn’t what they were. Somehow Vandy isn’t a bad loss for the gumps but not a good enough win for the vols to boost their resume.

Bama shiiitt the bed a week earlier at Oklahoma who dominated the gumps who again apparently isn’t good enough to boost the Vols resume but not bad enough to elimimate bama. And im not sure bama even covered very many games in the SEC this year.

But no one seems to want to discuss Alabama's horrific losses. Vandy early and then a beat down late in the season by a 6-6 Oklahoma team.

Miami lost to a ranked Syracuse team and to a GA Tech team that took GA to 8 overtimes. But let's don't count the losses.
D4H only says what makes Tennessee seem more elite. We beat Alabama, so D4H says they’re an elite championship team 🤷🏽‍♂️

Nothing Bama has done tells me they are head and shoulders above Miami.

Miami racks up points. Their two losses are by a combined 9 points to GA Tech who took UGA to 8 OTs in Athens and Syracuse whose went 9-3.

Bamas biggest win is UGA, in which they choked away a big lead and needed a video game catch and run from a 17 year old to finish it off. Then promptly lost ugly to Vandy.

This isn’t the Bama of old.
"of old". By which, I presume, you mean last year?

Unfortunately Im not sure thats true. You think they won't railroad SMU for the Gumps?
I don’t thnk they can. Otherwise they tell coaches “don’t play in your conference championship game”

Bama is a better team than Miami. This isn’t yet the Miami of the 80’s or 90’s or early 2000’s. They are not nearly a complete team. Christobol needs to learn and get better or leave. That decision to kick a FG is lying heavy on him as it should. My 11 year old daughter was stunned at that one.
