Auburn and UGA are way too high. 'SC is way too low. ASU could be borderline, I guess (although it wouldn't make my list), but UA is just flat out ridiculous.

his pac-10 rankings are a complete joke. oregon over USC? ASU and UA in the top-20 at all? ridiculous.

He was only saying as of right now, due to USC sanctions. He also said they would climb back up the list when the effect of the sanctions end.

I agree about the Arizona schools, especially over programs like Wisconsin, Michigan State, Texas A&M & Miami. His analysis relies heavily on those Arizona programs becoming top-20 ideal job environments due to rising money (donations + PAC-12 TV cash), population (for building program-interest & in-state talent-development), and USC probation.

As for money, the Arizona schools are still 42nd and 50th in the country; even the new TV contract & donations improving is unlikely to leap-frog them into top-20 stature within 5 years, but they are likely to get into the top-30.

As for population, he has a point. Arizona has produced more 4/5* athletes in their last 2 recruiting classes than the previous 5 combined. There does appear to a be a rising pool of talent in-state.

As for USC probation, he could add that with a coaching staff as incompetent as Kiffin's has proven to be so far, the PAC-12 could easily be wide-open the next half-decade or so, giving the Arizona schools a real shot at PAC-12 title competition.

He overstates their claim, but he's not entirely off base.

Georgia produces more than 12 NFL players or draft picks a year, on average, which is only behind Florida, California & Texas, so top-5 stature makes sense from a talent perspective. UGA is also the 2nd most profitable football program in the country, so top-5 stature makes sense.

Auburn's locale sits superbly within the talent bases of Alabama, the panhandle, north Florida and eastern Georgia, so a top-10 stature makes sense for them as well. Auburn is, and remains, a top-10 program from a revenue perspective as well.

Penn State and Oregon in the top 10 is laughable.

I don't know anybody who gives a crap about Penn State football aside from white guys over 30.

ASU has the potential to be a perennial power, but they would have a long, long way to go. I've been around their stadium and facilities... Not the nicest.

But it's an enormous university in a large urban area with a practical army of gorgeous girls that's relatively adjacent to Texas and southern California. If they would commit to a few million on facilities and a marketing firm, they could be boss in a few years time.

There are really three major errors in this list, and then a series of minor ones.

First, the major errors:

Arizona and Oklahoma State are on the list and Wisconsin and Texas aTm are not. enough said. Not to mention Washington, Arkansas, Clemson, Iowa, and Boston College that would all have legit gripe to be on the list, and certainly any of these would be more warranted than any of the cowpokes or arizona (which is a complete joke). Arizona is literally barely a top 50 college football job. It is the equivalent of the Alabama basketball job. Maybe a coach would turn down ODU to take it.

However, the greatest joke of all is that Miami is nowhere to be found on this list. UM is a top 10 job nationally, without question. Any top 20 list that excludes the Canes is complete garbage.

Further, Georgia, which arguably shouldn't be in a the top 20 of any list, being ahead of Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee is completely laughable. Clearly program history played no component to this list.

I could continue griping about this pathetic excuse for a list, but I am tired, mostly drunk, and ticked off. Someone please finish it off.

Oh, and Oregon ahead of USC, or even Oregon ahead of UCLA and Arizona State and Colorado makes me sick to my stomach. Andy Staples should literally quit his job and take up women's softball. He clearly has no clue about college football or the luxurious history that it provides.

Lastly, Florida is a great program. But compared to Alabama, it is a minor distraction. Florida, historically, is a top 4 SEC program. Equal with LSU and Tennessee and a distant way behind the Bammers. UGA and Auburn are somewhere behind those four, and Arkansas is a solid 7th. All 7 are top 25 programs, but UGA as top 5 is about as big of a joke as saying the 2011 Vols are national title contenders. Catch an effing clue Staples.

I'd buy Oregon ahead of ucla and asu at the moment, only by virtue of the direct connection between athletes and the most revered brand name amongst nearly every athlete in the country, and that brands owner practically dumping money by the truckload into that program. In a couple years time, Oregon will have far better facilities than any other college program, and if they go through with what I've been hearing from Nike employees is true, should rival most NFL teams.

How many titles does Oregon have?

The right coach at Colorado will do wonders in that weak conference.

Colorado will be recruiting much better than they have since the BigXII was formed now that they will have a major footprint in California. Trying to steal players from Texas, aTm, and Oklahoma is MUCH more difficult than getting the guys from a weakened USC and a bunch of also rans.
