This is a fine example of thinking with emotion. Of course we all want UT to win all its games, but it is not practical. An emotional thinker tends to want consequence for a season that is expected for a program that is still recovering from a decade of terrible decisions. For instance an emotional thinker may say that coach jones should be fired after going a reasonable 5-7 or 6-6 this season. An objective thinker typically thinks logically, realistically, and reasonably. Typically objective thinkers would not call for the head of said coach if he has other things to offer to the program.
A list if you will...
-donors excited for the team again
-season tickets sales on the rise again
-a top ten recruiting class
-another projected top ten recruiting class
-respect for the program has returned
-players showing reasonable improvement
-players showing dedication to the program
-former legendary athletes showing enthusiasm for the coach
-former athletes allowed to attend practice/mentor current athletes
-behavior/conduct of athletes have improved
-etc
Taking these things into consideration, an objective thinker may be able to look past a slightly disappointing 5-7 season for the second season of said coach's tenure.
Thoughts?
Nice post. I'm still not sure how many realize what a deep hole we had to dig out of. Butch has done many things the right way. Time will tell and being patient is hell...we'll get there.:yes:
