Those players were recruited by Malzan after 2010 national championship and are Spread players that were recruited to his system, they tried to "slow things down" when Malzan left and they went 0-8 in conference last year. Malzan went back in as head coach and went right back to what won them a title in 2010. He didn't start over with bums! No comparison to what CBJ is facing.

agreed and ditto

yep top 5..thing is..the other 4 teams...are all sec teams.

Doesn't matter. Lat year we were 21st, and bringing up the rear in the SEC. This year we are 2nd, and 2nd. I don't think we fall much further. I wouldn't be surprised if we stay 2nd.

Someone posted a thread once about how many we lost from each class. That was a crazy thread. I'm at work and to lazy to find it.

lol yeah I actually tried to find that but couldn't. That's the exact reason I hope people don't get so focused on this recruiting class. It's a good start, but that's all it is. And the way the other teams in conference recruit, it's more like top 10 classes are mandatory just to stay afloat.

Yeah but football is a team sport. A few players can't bring depth and overall skill to every position.

I agree that Dooley did a very poor job recruiting defense. But he did a great job on offense (built one of the best offenses in the country during 3 years he was here).
Also, I agree that Dooley for the most part quit recruiting last year (seems like he decided to try to save his job and spend most of his time on game planning - supposedly even attended Sal's defensive meetings where earlier he used to only attend offensive team meetings).

Yeah, it's also miserable that all that offensive skill players bolted to the NFL. We could really use a Patterson and Bray this year.

Agreed, although Bray would be ineligible at this point. So we'd still have Dobbs if everything else played out the same.

Perhaps if their (good) position coaches did not get fired and pro system replaced with the bearcat spread few of those guys could have been talked into staying one more year.

Games are won and lost in the trenches. Skill players are great and needed.....got to win the line of scrimmage.

Awesome recruiting class heading our way; but, we will need several years of great recruiting.

Hey man, don't jump off the ledge yet. Things will get better. It's a win/win for Tennessee.

Butch Jones is a great recruiter. Even if he fails as a coach we will still have great talent for the next coach.

The idiots said that. Anyone with a brain knew otherwise.

Butch can recruit, obviously. Give him time people, he'll get us there.

Have to remember, none of these players are his, this year was a wash to begin with. Even mighty Saban had a garbage year his first one at Bama, and that was after they had decent coaches previous to him.

This is THE EXACT THING people said, week after week when Dooley was here. I mean verbatim lol.

I really do. But it starts with personal hygiene and regular showers with soap. Cleanliness makes the player. The players make the plays. Therefore, cleanliness makes the plays. :eek:lol:

Yeah, THAT was the reason:ermm:

If we DO end up having to go after a new coach down the road, I'm going to vote for North Dakota State's Craig Bohl! Should be cheap :D

Yeah but Dobbs throwing to CP and Hunter would be a different ball game than Dobbs throwing to North, Pig and that jabroni Josh Smith

Sigh. So true. Not to mention CP on returns. We're likely to not see a raw talent like CP in many, many years.

However, I don't see him failing. Recruiting is the lifeblood of a program. Plus Jones has been a winner everywhere else.

Just hang on!

Yeah....he already out coached Richt (just didn't get the W :cray:) and out coached and beat the mighty Spurrier in his first year with midlevel ACC/Big Ten talent. Wait until he has a couple of recruiting classes like the one coming in!

Ever since the Bama game I try to imagine Hurd running over Gators...Bulldogs...Cocks...Tigers...Elephants...Wildcats...Heavy Anchored Down Commodores.....then I remember this quote too...
