Ur clueless!!! SP has been a winning program for years, hence Grider taking over from his dad! Vic is a classy guy, and he spoke at the coaches forum, and also helped at the June camp along with Rankin. To say they're little country schools comes from someone whoonly looks at the population of a town, and not what its program is based on! Get a clue of what ur talking about before u start bashing schools with winning programs!!

your right they are a winning team but 1A and avoid the tornados is the best thing.i saw south pitt in state last year they are vert slow.if they played alcoa 66-12 if south pitt could score.dont know much about signal mountain but id say alcoa would win by plus 24.to keep from doing seperate post, another poster said its about time that alccoa and maruville startt playing by everyone e;ses rules.

Coach Prive was my coach in High School. Hes a good coach. Hes smart to make the jump so they dont have to play Alcoa. They have only played football there for 2 years.

You went to Soddy I suppose? He's also got TWeathers helping him build that foundation. Weathers is good. Not the best, but good.

both schools are little country town schools with 6'1 250 pounds o lineman....Alcoa would kill them...smart move

Go back and check. I'd be willing to bet you South Pitts line last year averaged more than Alcoa's. They had two kids 300 lbs.

I went to school with a few kids that got recruited by Maryville. Not just football.

I'm not disputing that Maryville recruits, I just find it silly that one would accuse Maryville of recruiting, but not Alcoa.

True, I'm pretty sure Tyler Robinson went to Blount county schools until high school, I don't if he was recruited or his family moved.

Name one Maryville has recruited, and provide proof.

Miranda Maples shes the best player on the Girls High School basketball team. She went to Eagleton Middle, my mother worked there and its a very poor school. Then all the sudden they buy a Condo in Maryville district....hmmmmm, Also some of my friends have gotten calls when we were in middle school about transfering there.

T-Rob moved, like alot of people go to Alcoa, better coaches, players. People go to Alcoa and Maryville because, thats where you win. Im just saying sometimes Maryville recruits, not mainly but sometimes. I have never heard of Alcoa taking anybody and had proof to back it up.

I wonder how she feels about you talking about her on a message board?

Anyways, that in no way, shape, or form means Maryville recruits.

50 percent of all d1 players are black. 80 percent of all nfl players are black, and major ncaa programs are probably closer to this number demographically. alcoa has like 550 kids, 1/3 of them being black. a vast majority of their football players are black. i have no interest getting into a debate why blacks dominate the high levels of football, but that explains why alcoa has no need to recruit.

also, as has been explained by a few posters, there have been many past examples county kids suddenly ending up at maryville come their freshman year. i know of star football player county guys who's parents were blue collar or simply lower class and likely couldn't afford and wouldn't consider paying tuition at maryville otherwise.

that's lame to ask for 'proof' on a message board then condemn a poster when he gives a specific example. i agree though that no one should be mentioned specifically.

The poster should have had the sense not to mention that person by name. That's not my fault.

Again, I don't dispute that Maryville recruits. I'm not that naive. But don't try to make me believe that Maryville recruits, and then tell me that Alcoa 'just has the talent.' Don't be naive.

i'm not going to try to tell you anything else because you're clearly unwilling to consider any point that goes against what you've already concluded, which i assume is that alcoa must recruit because they win or because an adjacent school is also elite and that school apparently recruits players.

perhaps you can clear up my naivety and present some specific (whatever your definition is) evidence that alcoa does recruit. or give me some evidence that alcoa doesn't have the athletes already inside their city limits.

I've not accused Alcoa of anything. My point is simple. Posters in this thread have already said that there are stories that float around about kids moving so they can attend Maryville. I do not dispute those stories, and I can't say I blame those kids. Who wouldn't want to play for Maryville? I'm just saying that there are stories like that for Alcoa, too. It is ridiculous for one to sit there and accuse Maryville of being dirty, and then claim that Alcoa 'just has the talent.' I realize Alcoa has talent inside their city limits, but so does Maryville. Let's try to keep that in mind.

only it's not.

not to the extent that alcoa does.

Yes, it is quite ridiculous. No doubt that Alcoa has a good supply of talent, but so does Maryville, albeit not to the extent that Alcoa does, perhaps. For one to accuse Maryville of recruiting, and at the same time defend Alcoa of any sketchy activity is absurd and ignorant. You have already said that there are stories of kids relocating to play for Maryville. There are also stories about kids doing the same thing to play for Alcoa. Please, get your head out of the sand.
