Signal Mountain and South Pitt say no to Alcoa.

I don't think Alcoa or Maryville recruits players. Are there families that move to Alcoa or Maryville so their kids can play football there? Absolutely. That isn't recruiting. I say in every case the parent approaches the coach about how to get a kid at those schools. I know personally that David Douglas and Tommy Burnett approached GQ about how to get their kids to Maryville.

Exactly. Success sells itself, and kids want to be a part of a successful program.

Yes, it is quite ridiculous. No doubt that Alcoa has a good supply of talent, but so does Maryville, albeit not to the extent that Alcoa does, perhaps. For one to accuse Maryville of recruiting, and at the same time defend Alcoa of any sketchy activity is absurd and ignorant. You have already said that there are stories of kids relocating to play for Maryville. There are also stories about kids doing the same thing to play for Alcoa. Please, get your head out of the sand.

yeah, it's just absurd and ignorant.

It's the same way with Farragut Baseball. Every parent that has a stud baseball player will try their hardest to get their kid into Farragut.

Every parent that wants their child to be a champion dip spitter will send them to heritage.

I hope Maryville gives them a reality check. That article about Alcoa is a great thing for Maryville. I have friends who have sons on the Maryville team. Those kids are tired of hearing about how great Alcoa is. Maryville returns a bunch from last year. All the offensive line and backfield return. Maryville needs receivers to step up. Defense returns 7 starters. Unless Maryville has key injuries they should be awesome this coming season.

i'm sure the maryville players also cried when they got vastly more press than any other east tennessee school, probably more than any team in the state, over the last 10 years. plus, it's not like maryville people love to tell you how great maryville is.

Nobody is saying there is a lack of press for Maryville. Rather, maybe, some people are forgetting that Maryville is going to field another great team this year.

Most families don't have the means of making that move like the Douglas family. Are you serious?

I agree, I have to give to White House though, they played a home and home with Alcoa the past two years. But SM is whoosin out.

SM is running scared... Its not a smart for SP to play Alcoa they don't have near the size to hand with Alcoa... Have good skill guys but would be destroyed in the trenches IMO...
