Usually you won't land a commitment from a kid who has not taken an OV to the school. Not unheard of, but rare. UT has provided 41 OVs to recruits per 247. Of those 41, here are the guys not committed to UT, and were not EEs. I'd think any surprises would likely come from this group.

I think plenty of people would hate to see a young man who has been committed for an extended period of time get asked to look around. But, I also can't imagine Butch standing in front of the press after he was fired saying "I stood by our early commits and I have no regrets on passing on those highly rated kids I had the opportunity to sign."
VN would be sympathetic to him for all of 12 seconds. The resounding response would be "you're a nice guy, but we want to win...and you can't win if you regularly pass on better and more skilled players. Don't blame us if you make bad talent decisions. That's on you."
I may be wrong, but I don't think any of the 4 teams in the recent playoffs were selected because their respective coaching staffs were the moral compasses of college football.
I said their top 10 as in offers, not top 10 class in the country.
I've always been fine with replacing a kid who is looking around. My comment was not directed at that scenario as most names being mentioned as a "dump em", "BS em" , or make them accept a GS or they can walk" would be what I am talking about.
Butch wants to replace PW, Oliver, Miller, Bussey, Boulware, you won't hear a thing negative from me.
I'd bet Ford was not told upfront about it. Just by his reaction to it alone. He wasn't taking visits either.
I am going with the "no surprises" theory. Would love an OL to commit, but I just don't feel good about the ones we are still talking with. This is a great class even with no surprises.
The one thing not mentioned in any of these threads is academic casualties. I think the reason they are going to 29 is because they are going to have to place a couple instead of signing. That gives them a couple of spots beyond 25. As for a couple of more maybe they are asked to gray shirt.
Anyone have any idea of who might be academic casualties? They happen every year but for some strange reason there has been no mention of any this year.
