Usually you won't land a commitment from a kid who has not taken an OV to the school. Not unheard of, but rare. UT has provided 41 OVs to recruits per 247. Of those 41, here are the guys not committed to UT, and were not EEs. I'd think any surprises would likely come from this group.

Richmond
Horton
Walker
Slayton
Dauphine
Newsome
DeBerry
Burrell
Allen
Frasier

Great post. Thanks for pulling that out. Richmond / Deberry would be fantastic

Lots of talk about blue shirts. I may be wrong but I thought I read a BS is a kid who can be announced as part of the class, but there is not actually a scholarship available to him yet. Does the scholarship have to he available by Aug when the 85 number comes into play? I always thought a BS does not have to worry about paying his own way. If his ship is not good by Aug, he's fitting the bill right?

We only have 29 commits

I haven't seen anything on Frasier in months.
Richmond isnt a lock since butch has openly stated 2.
I'm saying no to Walker seeing as how we are heavy at DE.
Deberry would be nice but LB is shaping up nicely too.

Dauphine would be log jammed behind Hurd, Kamarra essentially no playing time.

I think plenty of people would hate to see a young man who has been committed for an extended period of time get asked to look around. But, I also can't imagine Butch standing in front of the press after he was fired saying "I stood by our early commits and I have no regrets on passing on those highly rated kids I had the opportunity to sign."

VN would be sympathetic to him for all of 12 seconds. The resounding response would be "you're a nice guy, but we want to win...and you can't win if you regularly pass on better and more skilled players. Don't blame us if you make bad talent decisions. That's on you."

I may be wrong, but I don't think any of the 4 teams in the recent playoffs were selected because their respective coaching staffs were the moral compasses of college football.

With cesspool's like Auburn doing everything illegal to get kids this weekend, I think you have to realize that this is a war to the end, and we gotta do what we gotta do to finish this well.

I am going with the "no surprises" theory. Would love an OL to commit, but I just don't feel good about the ones we are still talking with. This is a great class even with no surprises.

I said their top 10 as in offers, not top 10 class in the country.

I've always been fine with replacing a kid who is looking around. My comment was not directed at that scenario as most names being mentioned as a "dump em", "BS em" , or make them accept a GS or they can walk" would be what I am talking about.

Butch wants to replace PW, Oliver, Miller, Bussey, Boulware, you won't hear a thing negative from me.

I'd bet Ford was not told upfront about it. Just by his reaction to it alone. He wasn't taking visits either.

Ok I misunderstood what you were saying. But in Fords case it wasn't last minute and he has time to find another suitor. Now if it was done 3-4 days before that would be a different story. I'm not sure who Hubbs is referring to as far as asking guys to look around. Oliver could be one with him having taken visits, maybe Miller but after that I wouldn't even know where to start guessing on others who are being asked to find somewhere else. But again my guess would be Oliver, Miller and if any other committs are taking visits this wknd. I haven't checked to see if any of our current guys are taking visits elsewhere.

I wouldn't either but two guys who have proven they have inside info have said differently so most likely we have stleast 2, with Richmond most likely being one. Him taking last minute visits then cancelling Ala but still coming to TN is a very good sign.

I really think Richmond will flip to us. He has to see the writing on the wall: Ole Miss has peaked. Nowhere for them to go but down. Tennessee is fast on the rise in a still relatively weak SEC East, which means he would be at a winning program with more exposure. Certainly Butch and others are drilling this into his head. But if he doesn't come, hopefully we can land another O-lineman or D-lineman. Can never have enough of those.

The one thing not mentioned in any of these threads is academic casualties. I think the reason they are going to 29 is because they are going to have to place a couple instead of signing. That gives them a couple of spots beyond 25. As for a couple of more maybe they are asked to gray shirt.

Anyone have any idea of who might be academic casualties? They happen every year but for some strange reason there has been no mention of any this year.

If there are any kids questionable grade wise, you will see the same thing that happened to Orlando Brown last class. IMO the kids committed are good to go or word would have already gotten out.
