Silicon Valley

The dismantling of the AI robot was hilarious given Richard's and Jared's expectations. (but nothing comes close to the horse banging scene)

Jared's backstory examples continue to be hilarious. He delivers the lines perfectly.

If he doesn't get a Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Emmy nomination this year, something is wrong. He's killed it.

I thought that was a good way to end the entire series; but they've already announced a season 6, so guess not.

Honestly, part of me wishes that was it. I still like the show but there's only so many times you can tell basically the same story each season.

The writing and dialogue are still so crisp but it really is a formula of near miss calamity after near miss calamity. Part of me wants it to wrap up on a high note and another wants more Gilfoyle and Dinesh trading barbs.

The ups and downs of Gavin are almost as fun as Pied Piper. He is a good foil to Richard.

I hope Lori is done though. She has had her moments but her part in the story should be put to pasture.

And kudos to the show for not taking the predictable path of putting Richard and Monica in some kind of romantic relationship. It seemed like they wanted to do that in season one but steered clear after. In fact the scene from the Piper Coin episode in which she questionered their non-business related friendship was a great exchange.

I wonder if most successful silicon valley ventures are as near-miss as Pied Piper is. I love the writing, and I'm interested to see the direction of a new season.

Anybody still watching this? It's better without Urlich.

Yeah. It's still good though I'm glad they're ending it. It will be a shame if Zach Wood doesn't get an Emmy nom for best supporting actor in a comedy.

Also you can tell Kumail Nanijani has been working out for his Eternals role.

According to him, he started working out a couple years back because he got a hankering to see how fit he could get.

I’ve felt this season has only been ok. Still better than most comedies though.

You can tell they are running out of story, good time to end it.

I think they've been out of story a season or 2; there's only so many times they can basically tell the same story. It's been carried by the humor and performances but even that can only go so far.

Mostly agree with this. There is definitely a formula to the plot lines. Get a big win only to have it blow up in Richard’s face, then find clever why to get around it.

How’d everyone feel about the finale?

The time jump/documentary style was a bit cliche but I guess I was satisfied with where the characters ended up and the fate of Pied Piper.

It was ok.

I knew a TJ Miller appearance as Bachman wasn't probably going to happen but I was expecting they'd do like The Office did with Michael Scott and have Bachman show up in a glorified cameo like Scott did in the Office finale. But when it didn't happen, I kind of rolled my eyes at the part where they "find" Bachman and it's Jian-Yang impersonating him.....again. That really wore that joke out and I could have done without yet another rehash of it.

Overall I'm glad they ended it and I still think they went about 2 seasons too long.

I agree about it being over, although I’m going to miss the Gilfoyle/Dinesh dynamic.

I thought the show was good to the end. People started turning sour because it was so smart early on and they kinda ran out of ideas in that regard, but it was always funny. The League was basically the same **** over and over and I watched it to the end because the jokes were good. How many shows are funnier than SV in fall 2019? I'll miss it.

I thought it was good till the end too. This season was particularly short though. The characters remained good. Honestly, even though I felt like the crisis formula was wearing thin I was always interested to see how they would get out of it.
