This is pretty awesome

Sadly this is not the part of the combine where Simmons is gonna shine.. he put up a decent 40 (5.37) for a 6'1 330-pounder. Still quite a few folks to run but he's right near the very bottom so far. Looks like only half the DTS have run and the edges haven't gone yet. His time to shine will be in drills and hopefully bench press. Pearce came in on the short end of arm length

For context a 4.7 is the DT equivalent of a 4.4 for a WR. For a nose Tackle anything under 5 is ungodly (Jordan Davis of UGA running a 4.78 at 340 pounds was the equivalent of if a WR ran a 4.1)

*official time was updated to 5.37 from 5.38

Might be worth noting how much faster Pearce is than some of our rival’s guys. While Georgia has a lot of dudes there their fastest was Tyrian Ingram-Dawkins at 4.86. The only SEC guy close was A&M’s Edge rusher who was a full tenth slower.

Sadly for me at 6’2” 220 I probably run a slower 40 than he does

Pearce just put the haters on alert with a high 4.4 40. The funnier part is both Simmons and Lott had higher verts than Pearce. He has looked great in everything except for that. Seems a weird result seeing how well he did in broad jump.

James Pearce ballin' out today in the combine. Set the pace in the 40 yd dash. @ 4.46 and a 4.58 in his first run. Elijah Simmons looked good in agility drills also. The hosts were talking about his draft position and he is slated to go in late 1st round to either the Washington Commanders or the Philadelphia Eagles ...Go Vols !!!

Big boys usually always do well in the vert because their legs are strong af. I remember James Stone had a much better vert than Jordan McRae.

Also Pearce at 36 inches is nothing to sneeze at.
