Skyfall

So here are my thoughts about the movie:

In a day and age, in which, movie tickets cost about $10 a piece, Skyfall is one of those rare movies that is worth the money. As usual, Bond has beautiful women, fast cars, and adventure that would make Sherlock Holmes blush. The movie, as a whole, is action packed to the max. From Istanbul to Shanghai to London itself, the pace of the movie never stops. There are two essential things that I think make this movie better than the Bonds of past: 1.) The plot is focused on an attack on MI6 itself---this was a fresh approach and not as boring as past Bond movies, in which, MI6 gives orders and little is heard from them again. 2.) It is dark, much like one of Nolan's Batman movies. Sure there is wit and many times, in which, you will laugh out loud in the theatre, but, as a whole, the movie puts a new spin on Bond by making him the very thing that made him attractive in the first place: mysterious

Overall, Skyfall was the best Bond movie I have seen besides Goldeneye (but I was only 12 when that movie came out and I think I romanticize about that movie somewhat). Go see it, you won't regret the decision.

I'm British and I approve this message.

Great film.

Skyfall....hmmm Is there a part 2 where Bond saves the Volunteer Nation from ruin?

Solid movie that's well worth the price of admission. IMHO it's the best of the Daniel Craig series.

The wife and I have been tossing around the idea of moving over to the UK. Live in London?

Interesting. If you need any advice or pointers on anything feel free to ask me. I will help you where I can.

Yes I live in a London Borough about 20 minutes from central London.

The best way to get me to notice the questions would be to post a thread about it in the end zone section. It will get trolled to death but I will definitely see it, you will just have to sift through the crap.

Good movie and I enjoyed the various nods to the classics. I'll agree Dalton is at the bottom of the list, but I think that's mostly because he was a great classically trained actor. He would have worked fine in the 60s when he was originally supposed to follow Connery, but the franchise had been reduced to awful scripts that required overacting by the 80s. He was just too good of an actor to be a cheeseball.

Looking at the University of Bristol and the American School of London for possible teaching opportunities. I studied in Cambridge for about a year while in undergrad and have wanted to move back for 5 years. We are in the process of getting all our ducks in a row (financially) before we make the jump. I would definitely appreciate the help, and I am sure I'll have some good questions for you in the upcoming months. Cheers.

I heard it sucked. Doesn't really change my decision to not go see it.

You can wait for it to come out on tv, won't lose anything imo. Good flick, more plot holes than other Bond movies, but Craig is definitely up there with Connery.

Saw it this afternoon, it may be the best Bond movie ever.

As far Bonds, Connery and Craig are the best, but I think Dalton was actually underrated. I even thought Lazenby was decent.

But Moore and Bronson, well they both sucked. I've never understood why Bronson gets praise, his movies were almost as cheesy as Moore's, and Die Another Day is possibly the worst Bond movie of them all.

I'm sure I will see it at some point. Just passing along what my buddy said, but it looks like he's in the minority.

***Huge Spoiler Alert Below*****

Ok, I liked the movie. It was very good but has a few timeline issues.

These thre Craig films take place prior to Dr. No. The AM is from goldfinger so there for could not exist yet in this film. The exploding pen part was a complete knock on Golden eye and the PB movies which I laughed at because the sucked. The ending was nice and shows how they got to the M that was in charge during the Connery Moore movies but also creates a time paradox problem with the PB movies as she was M then.

Lastly Craig is second on the list movies wise (not bond wise) and is above Connery.

Connery's movies are great but none are as good as Octopussy, Live and Let Die, or even Man with a golden gun.

PB also sucked as Bond and was basically playing Remington Steele on the big screen. Yes, Moore was playing his version of the Saint but at least he added a slight twist humor wise to it. PB added nothing.

Casino Royale was a series reboot.

No. It was not.

Not anymore than any other bond film with a new actor or director.

It was written by Fleming.

It also starts at the very beginning (so in your way yes it kinda was) and shows how he became bond. But this movie ends where dr no begins.

creates an issue with the PB movies.

Yes Casino Royale is considered a reboot of the franchise. It was made clear by MGM when it came out. Judi Dench continued to play M because they liked her in the role, but it has nothing to do with her playing the character in the PB films.

There is no timeline issue because this is considered a new, separate timeline.
