Just left the theater. Initial impression is that it was good. I liked casino royale better. This movie had its moments. Had too many "saw that coming" scenes than it should have had though.

7/10

Saw this movie on 11/12...Daniel Craig is good playing Bond. The opening scene is very over the top & cool but lost me in the plot...they never explained how.....? The movie is 2 hrs & 23 minutes long so you need to hit the restroom before the movie. Nice special effects in this movie. I would rate this as 4.5/5.

It does my heart good to see "from russia with love" on so many top 5s. I have read all the Ian Flemming novels and like the movies that don't get lost in all the gadgetry, and cheesy dialogue. The movies that place Bond as an agent all alone in the field are my favorites.

I hope and pray they will remake some of the novels that were butchered onscreen. Can anyone say, Moonraker?

Yes Casino Royale is considered a reboot of the franchise. It was made clear by MGM when it came out. Judi Dench continued to play M because they liked her in the role, but it has nothing to do with her playing the character in the PB films.

There is no timeline issue because this is considered a new, separate timeline.

It's considered a reboot because people are morons and dont know history.

It is no more a reboot than when Moore took over for Connery etc.

The movie starts with James Bond at the beginning (CR that is) because it is the first novel. The went by Bond timeline.

Ian Fleming - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It is simply another work like Octopussy etc.

It's no more a reboot than your POS Resident Evil is from Resident evil 1.

Are people considering it a reboot because of the story or because of the shift in style and tone?

I'm not going to argue with you anymore, you're simply wrong. CR is a freakin' reboot. You are seriously the only one I've seen not to understand that.

The fact that you think there's some timeline issue with Judi Dench proves you have no idea what you're talking about.

Both. Neo is the only person I've ever known to not consider it a reboot.

And the fact that it was flat out said by everyone involved with CR that it was a series reboot. The fact it takes place in 2006 should have been a major clue.

how is a movie a reboot that uses a story already written by the same Guy who wrote every other story except for the pb movies? oh don't answer it....I doubt you've even read the books.

Not knowing this would make someone stupid?

You never cease to amaze, NEO. I'm amazed all your taco bells are still in business.

How are you this stupid? What the heck does using Fleming's first novel have anything to do with the timeline of the MOVIES? You do realize novels and movie scripts are different things don't you?

I'll repeat, the fact you think there's a timeline issue because of Judi Dench proves you have no idea what you're talking about.

Because novels and movie scripts aren't the same thing genius.

1) I read some of the novels back in Jr. High.
2) That has absolutely nothing to do with the fact it's a reboot.
3) By your logic, Batman Begins wasn't a reboot because Alfred was an old white guy and Bruce Wayne was an orphan.

It's not bad. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't put it in a top 3 Bond movie list or anything.

Better than Quantam of Solace by far though.

golfball, the only acceptable reason for your fiance falling asleep is because you kept her awake the night before with a lot of sexy time.
If she fell asleep for any other reason, including illness, I have to agree it is best for you to end it now.

1. Dr. No
2. Goldfinger
3. From Russia with love
4. Thunderball
5. Diamonds are forever

Yes, i'm a Bond purist. Sean Connery was clearly the best 007.
