Skylar Mcbee-next Dane Bradshaw

Most people forget how Dane was on offense. I'd say that McBee has already hit more 3s than Dane did in his career.

Dane wasn't a shooter, but he could distribute the ball. Having him on the floor was like having a 2nd PG, and his bball IQ was off the chart. I haven't seen that yet from McBee. The effort is definitely there. Remember he's just a freshman and has a lot more time to develop.

I think it is time for Skylar to get his scholarship as of Sunday. He seems to be the type of player that has a lot of upside with a big heart and big kahunas.

McBee for three!!!

Although he played very well yesterday and hit a HUGE shot at the end, I still say we wait until the end of the year and evaluate him then.. His family has already paid for this year anyway. What more could a walk-on want than a chance to earn a scholarship after the first year? Either way, keep it up McBee!

Doesn't change the fact that you don't make deep runs in the tournament with guys like Bradshaw on the team.

I see several posters have become overly obsessive with the tournament now that we're in early January - from Pearl's pay to criticizing players.

While an NCAA Championship is the goal there is no reason to really be obstinate about the players we've had in the past.

Dane was a solid contributor that played his heart out. He was recruited by Buzz as a guard and moved to the power forward by Pearl. He was a starter on teams that went 55-16. Give him a break.

If we want to compete for championships, we'll likely have to do it without untalented workaholics. I'm glad he tried his best, but I want UT to compete for championships, and you can't really do that with Bradshaw.

Let's try this again. The Lawrence (Kan.) Journal-World said "Skylar McBee" became one of Google's top 50 searches last night. #Vols

he has a lot of heart but he doesn't have much upside

Have to agree. Couldn't have been happier for him with that near miraculous 3 pointer, but he just doesn't seem like D1 talent to me. Would love to be proven wrong on this one...

I heard Bruce say on the postgame show that he will be on schloarship next year, from what understand this was the agreement all along.

You really think Bradshaw had no basketball talent? Really?

And you don't think in the last 5 years there has been a final four team starting a player less talented than Bradshaw?

Bradshaw was a college player and nothing else. The guy got beat up badly playing out of his size and skill position for the better part of two years, which made his play go down even more.

He is not D1 talent, but he is contributing big minutes and big shots on a D1 team that whipped #1 overall. That sounds like a definition for "D1 talent". What does he have to do to please some people?

How do we know his mom and dad already paid all his expenses. Scholly money could maybe payback any loans he might have taken.

I don't care if he can't play a lick of defense or not, if he can knock down 3 or 4 three's a game then we need him and is worth the scholarship. Everyone needs to remember he is just a Freshman.
