Skylar Mcbee-next Dane Bradshaw

He is not D1 talent, but he is contributing big minutes and big shots on a D1 team that whipped #1 overall. That sounds like a definition for "D1 talent". What does he have to do to please some people?

How do we know his mom and dad already paid all his expenses. Scholly money could maybe payback any loans he might have taken.

His mother mentioned in an article that she had already written the check for 4k and change.

slang: literally big balls, figuratively a man who has big kahunas has a lot of nerve, is brave, a risk taker, has a lot of testosterone.

I believe you're thinking of cojones (co-hoe-nees), the Spanish word corresponding to "balls" in English. McBee may have three of them.

Kahuna is definitely a native Hawaiian word not referring to balls of any kind.

no way he deserves a scholly. 1) he doesnt have enough tattoos 2) he doesnt turn the ball over on a behind the back dribble in crunch time 3) he doesnt wear a headband 4) hes not a 6 ft 9 swing man.
give the guy a break, hes was a true freshman guarding some of the best athletes in the country . he will be a great one . i bet hes in the top 10 three pt shooters in ut history when he graduates. book it

I wasn't aware Charlotte had some of the best athletes in the country too. Because he definitely has gotten dominated on the defensive end in most every game and just can't stay in front of anyone. And has tremendous trouble creating his own shot - he's only been money when he's already set for the shot and a teammate passes it to him open.

He had to take that desperation 3 with no form at all because he's just not athletic enough to get open and create good shots.

You need to work on some reading comprehension with my post.

I said his desperation three with 30 seconds left had no form at all. What's hard to understand there? Or do you think they teach players to shoot threes falling forward on one foot and just pushing the ball towards the basket these days?

You really think Bradshaw had no basketball talent? Really?

And you don't think in the last 5 years there has been a final four team starting a player less talented than Bradshaw?

Bradshaw was a college player and nothing else. The guy got beat up badly playing out of his size and skill position for the better part of two years, which made his play go down even more.

Well, I'm certainly glad Pearl did recruit someone that can actually play the 4.

Career numbers for Dane:
FG% 38.7%
3pt% 26.9%
FT% 57%

I think the numbers speak for themself.

Rather than comparing to Bradshaw, McBee would be more comparable to Chris Lofton, IMO. HS Basketball superstar w/o much interest from D1 schools. Great three point shooter, but needs to play twice as hard as the faster, more talented guys if he's going to be effective on defense. If he could accomplish half of what Lofton did at UT, he will have a great career.

McBee is paying his own way to school to get a chance to play for the team he loves. Pearl has consistently said he is the hardest worker on the team. He has great heart and can shoot the ball. For a walk-on, he has done a great job just to get in the rotation. He will improve because of his work ethic. Most every one said Lofton couldn't play D1 ball. I'll take a kid like Lofton or McBee any day. He just hit the shot that beat the #1 team in the country. I can't believe some of you folks want to do nothing but attack a kid that plays his heart own every game for this team.

He really wasn't that good. There were so many games his senior year where his performance was awful.

He was an undersized PF with a dead arm for crying out loud. Considering, he played damn well.
His first two years he was a point guard that couldn't guard the ground he stood on or throw the ball in a boxcar. What was his excuse then?

I guess everyone else on the team just sucked worse than him so he got in the game by default.

He didn't see the floor much as a freshman and the team's record his sophomore year indicates your guess is accurate.

Mcbee is a better shooter than Bradshaw. May not be a good comparison to a former Vols player. However, JaJuan Smith was initially a walkon with a great 3-point shot.

Watch the replay.... on the shot, he squared his shoulders and followed through... great form considering how he had to turn his body in mid-air.

Remember, you are talking about a player who was voted as one of our best players for 100 years of basketball. Can't believe the players who were left off that selection and Bradshaw was included. He should have refused the honor since it is really a joke. He played hard and gave all he could for the team, but he is not even in the ballpark of being one of the best players in the past 100 years.

Mcbee can shoot. Imagine being a walk-on in the biggest stage of it all in college basketball - D-1. You are coming here to earn a scholarship...will you not be a little nervous? Will that not affect your shot? Will you not make some mistakes? McBee will be ok. He won't be a world beater...but he'll be a good role player. V,Mc-B!

Hilarious. There is nothing "perfect" about his form there. He's a straight up and down shooter. He does not land 3 feet in front of where he shoots in any normal 3-pointer he takes.

It was a luck *** shot and only a freakin' moron would disagree. Stop kissing his butt for making one lucky shot and a wide-open three. He cannot get himself open - and he certainly can't even begin to guard anyone with a Division I scholarship.

Seriously - no one likes bandwagon UT basketball fans pretending to act like they know the game backwards and forwards.
