He held his own in the rocky top league this summer. But I don't think he is SEC type of player. Maybe I'm wrong. I say let him walk-on. It can't hurt, the kid can shoot.

Don't even mention Skylar in the same sentence as Lee Humphrey. Not even close in comparison. Lee Humphrey averaged 25+ his Senior year in AAA at Maryville his Senior year. Skylar plays in Single A in East TN and after playing against teams in Single A within the last 5-6 years, the competition is weak. I went to a AA school in town and we played the eventual Single A state champion about 5 years ago and we beat them by 15+ in their own gym and they had a finalist for Single A Mr Basketball and we held him to 7 points. He is a good shooter but the competition in Single A is no where close to even what it is in AA. Skylar will do fine at a D2 school, but is no where close to being an SEC caliber player.

Grainger is AA about 900-1000 students. I teach in Grainger County. A guy I teach with is close friends with Skylar. He said Wake was considering an offer, and that if they did not offer he would walk-on at Tennessee.

He's not good enough for SEC play.

He'd be better off going to Carson Newman or another D2 school...

I keep thinking the same thing but apparently Wake Forest has offered him. So with them offering him & Bruce going to watch him they must see something.

If he goes to Wake he will be back in Grainger County working at Holt's IGA before the spring semester starts...

If he comes to UT he will be sitting next to Chad Newman at the end of the bench...

I agree with you. I've seen the kid play twice & both time's he did'nt impress me at all & i've seen alot of D1 talent play the last few year's.

So, You think by watching Skylar McBee play twice you think he should go D2? This kid played on one of the best AAU Teams in the country (MidState Ballerz - South) and was one of the best players they had. Beat the #2 AAU team in the nation. Check the website!!! See if Skylar is constantly making the ALL TOURNAMENT teams.... This is the same program Scotty Hopsin came from... Wake Forest has their sites set on him and he's qualified....They have watched him for a while in the AAU circuit.....How much crow would Tennessee have to EAT if they loose this kid to a ACC team? Do you think that conference is better than the SEC?
