Skylar McBee

If you can't tell by the name, then you are blind. I speak about McBee from a purely subjective viewpoint. Skylar is AWESOME! I have seen him play several times, both on the AAU circuit, as well as in his district games. The kid is for real!!!! I've seen him hit 3's with people hanging off of his arms and I have seen him dish to teammates in order to win games. In my opinion, if we don't offer, we could end up looking like fools. JMOORE is nothing more than a CCHS (you know what it is) homer and is mad McBee beat them at the hen house. What are your credentials to judge talent anyway JMOORE? I never saw you even play HS B-Ball. Anyway, off my soapbox for now. McBee is the real deal, and if Pearl doesn't offer, he has lost his mind. We need another shooter, and McBee truly fits the bill to a t.:)

He was one of the top scorers for the Mid State Ballerz (east or south...can't remember which). They had no shortage of D-1 talent and he was the guy most of the time leading in scoring.

"week?" Get a dictionary.

Thanks for the correction top cop:good!: Try answering the question without getting your feelings involved next time. I wasn't knocking the kid.

Using Bruce Pearl's ability to judge talent is not the best angle for you to take...

not trying to start anything here, but i was just wondering why you've got an axe to grind with the bruce? just trying to see where you're coming from.

He has done nothing of significance other than getting more butts into TBA's seats.

He routinely gets outcoached, and in my opinion is in way over his head...

First of all im going to start this off by saying dont get on a message board on the computer & talk like you want to do something its immature, stupid, & embarrasing to yourself

Second of all i could careless if Grainger beat CCHS where ever it may be. ( but just to let you know the two times i did see him play against CCHS, they shut him down )

Thirdly no i didnt play high school basketball & no i didnt try out, but i would promise you IF i had tried out i would have been on the team.

Fourth I've probably seen alot more D1 talent play in high school already that it would take the rest of your life to make up for what i saw. So im pretty sure i could judge him by who i have seen play.

Also, who has offered him a scholarship?? I know Bruce hasnt & how many times has he been to see him play & still hasnt offered?

If you honestly think this kid can go to Wake Forest & play against the athletes in the ACC or come to Tennessee & play over the athletes on the team or in the SEC your smoking something that makes you stupid & you need to get off of it quickly before all of your brain cells are gone.

Okay im going to quit being nice. First of all get Skylar out your a$$! No i didnt play high school basketball BUT that doesnt mean i cant tell when someone can ball D1 basketball over the years i have seen more than a handful of players that would hand Skylar his lunch & not be able to get any attention if the kid was so good he would already have been offered from Tennessee, he isnt & he wont be offered. Yes Skylar will play D1 basketball but i PROMISE you it will NOT be in a big time conference. Right it down mark it somewhere end come back in a couple of months so i can prove your a$$ wrong

If you go back & read my post, i have gave Skylar the credit he deserves. Yes he is good, yes he is a hardworker & i hope he does prove me wrong because it would be a great chance for him to better his self in life & basketball BUT do i & alot of other people including scouts that have seen him play believe he can play in the SEC or even ACC, NO!

Right and that's your opinion. Didn't you learn what an opinion was in middle school? Your opinion in fictional (also learned in middle school) as well as worthless. You have stated what you think of him over and over again. And we all get what your saying, BUT most seem to believe that your wrong about it. And as much as i can tell you want to feel important about this subject your NOT. So lets put it like this sweets leave the opinions of Skylar up to the people who are important and actually get to decide the future of his basketball career.

Ok that is a GREAT idea! Oh wait their opinion is just like mine, because if you go to the recruiting websites ( which you probably couldnt even find ) they say the same thing im saying honey!! Which is that Skylar is a good player but he is NOT SEC or ACC material ( do you even know what those initials mean )??

Even Scout says he's not going to be going to a major school
Scout.com: Humphrey, Lofton ... McBee?

They say he has a chance to go as a high major. High major isn't the ACC and SEC's of the world. It's more like Gonzaga, Xavier, UAB, UMass, ..etc

The link may be kind of janky though, because I don't have a scout subscription.

Oh, and if he's so good, why is the only story on him from Rivals from Appalachian States website? Thats not exactly top notch basketball...

Wow whats that make 4 now & still no scholarship offer?

Look the only way Pearl offers McBee is if Wake Does, & i read the other day that Wake doesnt have another scholarship to spare & that their only keeping in touch with him just incase if something happens with one of their recruits

Offering a scholarship just because someone else does is the stupidest recruiting idea I've ever heard.

One of the last players Bruce was personally responsible for scouting and signing was Brian Williams...

Anything is possible is what I'm saying.

Ok im going to look like a real dumba$$ by saying this & ill probably get alot of jack for it but, i was @ the game last night & if Skylar can get in the weight room add some muscle & be more physical the kid could def play at the high D1 level. The kid can absolutely shoot the lights out of a gym. Everyone is right i was wrong i said it. I ate my words. But atleast im admitting i was wrong.

Thank You...... I'm glad you got to see how hard he has to WORK to keep his team in the GAME.... Just think if he could get a "BLOW" every now and then....

Skylar's hardwork will payoff.... I have heard from a source close to the situation that WF has 1 maybe 2 scholarships to give and looking at 3 players....and one those players maybe out.... Chances are they will offer but NONE of these D1 schools will offer until April.....

I think Pearl is waiting and hoping he can get McBee to walk-on....Use the HOPE scholarship and pretty much get everything paid for......but I'm telling you if WF offers he's gone.....He's qualified academically (for WF)and not to mention basketball smart....

He is going back to WF this weekend...

WF will get to see tape from the Knox Carter game...

I invite everyone to come and watch McBee play tonight at the NEW Grainger High School.....

I will be at the game Tuesday night Seymour @ Grainger. Not only should everyone come out to watch Skylar McBee play but everyone should come watch Christina Slay the younger sister of former vol Ron Slay, she is a freshman & has already been getting letters from the Lady Vols.

I'm not a basketball expert, but as I understand it, Bruce does NOT have a scholarship to offer anyone for next year. Ryan Childress is the only graduating scholarship senior and that one has already been given to Kenny Hall who committed on March 8.

I've watched Skylar play since he was in 7th grade at Joppa School. He's a real good kid with a whole lot of heart. I see him as a Dane Bradshaw who can shoot. You can make all the comments you want about the school he plays for or the competition they play but that does not overshadow the fact that the kid has made numerous all tourney teams playing in AAU. He's gave up all his summers to compete successfully there, and that's against the best competition in the country. And if nothing else, he's a better shooter than anyone UT has. He probably had a season low tonight against Cherokee, but he made some great passes to another player who had 7 3's.

Great kid, lot of heart - no quit. Good luck to him whatever he does. But Tennessee would do well to have him as a part of the Big Orange.

Your right Tennessee only has one scholarship to give out & we already have that used on Kenny Hall for next year BUT if Chism or T. Smith go pro that will open up 1-2 scholarships & i would bet one of those guys will go pro. So we will have atleast on scholarship open.
