You know that for less than $100 you can get an XM radio and a plug and play vehicle kit that will play via an FM transmitter in any vehicle?. I'm a complete idiot and it took me about 15 minutes to install and activate.

Yes. Used to have one, but the sound quality is for **** and I hated the unit sticking on my dash. Worst case, I'll just stream it

Forget the FM transmitter - if the car has a 3.5mm audio jack you can go direct from the unit to the car and it sounds fine.

This. Sirius and XM were required to decrease the power of their FM transmitters several years ago. They were so powerful that you could tune in to another person's satellite radio if you were within 50 feet or so. People would even buy window stickers advertising which frequency their unit was transmitting on.

It's true that having an add-on is in-elegant at best, but lack of integrated Satellite shouldn't be a game changer.

Honestly, we have enough data that streaming on my phone would work as long have connection.

Better looking than the Cayenne. Although Porsche would probably charge you $3000 for satellite radio.

Porsche straight nickels and dimes you for literally everything. Mercedes as well. Pay extra for push button start what the f?

ANYTHING but a Chevy Equinox. Biggest piece of garbage vehicle we've ever owned. 3 oil pumps, 3 timing chains, 3 fuel pumps, and it needed rings and pistons when we traded it in. This all happened before it had 56,000 miles on it and we bought it at 28,000 with a clean carfax.

Traded it for a 2014 CRV and haven't regretted it one bit. That Honda is the best vehicle we've owned. AWD and gets 30 mpg. It's an automatic without the CVT.

I think we will end up with the crv. 2015 LX for $260, $0 out the door. If calculations right, may be able to get an ex for $300' zero money. Hard to beat that

Hey Nerd...

Do you mind if I pm you a few questions to get some advice. I think we are going to look at the Mazda harder.

Still looking. Went to test drive a CR-V EX. Fine car. Back seat is nothing to write home about. Nothing bad at all but nothing blew me away. Already had figured what the numbers should be, but dealer was way off so walked away from the deal.

Now focused on Mazda CX-5. Haven't test drove it yet, but Mazda corporate has really good baseline lease deal. Plus car gets great reviews. Also considering Rav4 and maybe the Subaru Forrester.

I've owned just about every car make available. (Not counting luxury brands). The best car I ever owned was a Subaru Forrester.

We have a Forrester XT. It is awesome. Fun to drive, tons of leg room(i'm 6'5"). So far very reliable.

Side note. A tree fell on me while I was driving it down the road. No injuries to me but about $6k worth of damage to it. If it was .5 seconds later it could have been really bad but it missed the roof support.

It has been in shop for 3 weeks now. I should get it back after Thanksgiving.

True, but if most people knew how much content was left out their jap and American POS cars they'd be a little more understanding. Buttons are obvious, tactile things. That cheap azz tin Honda uses in their structure is a joke, but ive never seen anone ask what gauge of metal. But hey you can push a button to start it.

So true. My wife's BMW straight totaled a new car in an accident (previous owner), and the BMW was repaired and lasted her 10 years. Sold it 2 years ago and while it had several issues, it still looked beautiful and ran OK. I was just tired of chasing the oil leak lol.

And yet Hondas seem to score high on IIHS crash tests.

That said, I wish the Skoda Yeti was sold here in the US.

I really like the Forrester, but you can't beat the Mazda deal right now.

Don't know about the Mazda, but if you treat it right, no reason you can't get 300k miles out of a Subie...I've had 4 in my lifetime and never lost an engine or tranny and all of them had over 250k

Sure there is a difference in $$ but the overall quality of the Subaru is superior. My Aunt has a new Mazda SUV that I have borrowed a couple times. The leg room is nonexistent. I struggle to sit in the vehicle while my Subaru has TONS of leg room. I went with the XT Forester. The acceleration & response is fantastic. I drove the Limited version & it wasn't the same. If I'm gonna drive this car for 200k miles, I want to enjoy it.

Which Mazda SUV? The CX3, CX5, or CX9?

Anybody who likes cars will tell you that "enjoy" and "CVT" are mutually exclusive terms.

I have a 2001 Nissan Xterra. It is NOT COMFORTABLE on long trips.

Still...467,000 miles on the original motor without even an oil change*.

* the oil change thing may or may not be true.

Mazda CX-5.

I am biased as I work at a Mazda dealership, but Car and Driver and Consumer Reports think very highly of them.

If you live near Knoxville, I invite you and your family over to Mazda Knoxville for a test drive. My name is Peyton. :hi:

Volwindy has one, she seems to enjoy it!

Mazda in Franklin offers lifetime power train warranty???
