As an 95' alum, I feel for you students that were not able to experience the victories and success that others did before you. I really mean that. Some of my happiest college memories were from sitting in that stadium with 97,000 others watching a really good product on the field.
You have seen glimpses of good this year, but by in large, you have had to deal with a lot of trash talking from every opponents fans that came to Neyland.
Better times ahead. Enjoy Saturday night! Yell loud and for four quarters. Stick around after the victory and listen to the band. It's different once you graduate.
**Now I'm the one tearing up**:cray:
Yeah, it has been a rough road since I started my fandom in 2009. I can't cheer
passionately for any other school for a few reasons:
1) Since I was a kid, I loved the color orange, even though I had no idea really who UT was
2) My first college game was Tennessee @ Memphis in the '90s. Although that game didn't really stick, my first real college game, which
did make an impression, was Tennessee vs. UCLA in 2009.
3) It's my home state. No other teams in this state come close to the kind of energy this program can generate even during these down years.
4) It's my school!
I will remain a true Vol for Life for the rest of my days, because the start of my love for the Vols obviously had nothing to do with how good we were. There's no rhyme or reason to my passion (or what most would call obsession), but I love it that way!
I appreciate the words of support! Like you said, better days are ahead! I'll just be proud one day, if Jones is the guy like I think he is, to say I was here for his first ever seven home games at Tennessee and to see him conduct the band for the first time!
