smokey grey jerseys for Vandy confirmed

This disappoints me to no end. The Greys were suppose to be ONCE a year.

And now we are making Vandy special.

Imagine the unthinkable. Vandy wins vs the Greys. What a disgrace this would be.

Now I guess the players decide on uni's. Let's throw tradition out the window for VANDY!!!

Your name is Bear Bryant.

The guys that are the farthest from a winning tradition at Tennessee chose to wear grey and not Orange. That's not surprising.

With all due respect to the young men who have endured so much throughout their career, I'm not sure they should get this choice.

It's tough for me to blame these young men who have had two or maybe even three head coaches in their time on The Hill. That is certainly not what they expected when they signed their LOIs. They have given their all for the Big Orange and I have absolutely no problem with them wanting to wear smokey gray against the Commode Doors.

Good points. Just seems they view the gray unis as special/unique and only to be pulled out for special occasions. So that's where I'm coming from. There's absolutely nothing special about playing Vandy, especially in comparison to playing Bama or one of our true rivalry games. Regarding Bama, I'd personally prefer wearing our Orange jerseys and them wear their crimson ones.

Despite the fact this senior class has stuck with UT through some rough times, and deserve something special for their final home game. The way I see it, this has nothing to do with Vandy and everytihng to do with this Senior class. Do every senior class get this option? I don't think so, this is a special case, in my opinion.

I agree about us wearing Orange jerseys and Bama wearing crimson. There have been rumors that such a spectacle would take place soon but it never has. I guess both sides haven't officially agreed to it.

Reasonable and civil. Appreciate you not questioning my intelligence or telling me how creepy and ridiculous it is to love the school's traditions.

No, I said Freeze inherited a better roster. Check your reading comprehension kid. Check Freeze's roster and check Jones' roster in their first year while you're at it. Freeze didn't walk into near the dumpster fire that Kiffin and Dooley left.

Why don't you check for me and tell me how many 4 and 5 star athletes were on that roster Freeze inherited?

If you think that UT had so many better athletes, then rewatch the Oregon, Bama, Mizzou and Auburn games where our speed looked like a high school team compared to those teams. It wasn't even close. I don't give two sh*ts how much more money, tradition and facilities that UT had. My eyes tell me what anyone with half a brain should know.

Ah, the old "if we play poorly, it must mean that we lack talent" argument. Wondered when you were going to fall back on that old chestnut. Makes perfect sense, as long as you accept that coaching, game plans, practice, prep, discipline etc. have no effect whatsoever. And if that's the case, why are we paying the coaches again?

As a senior, this game will be my last as part of the student body. I honestly couldn't be more excited about the game being a night game against an in-state 'rival' with us wearing special jersey, a do-or-die situation to go bowling, and me having third row seats in Section E.

I am literally in tears right now I'm so happy to close out my student career like this. Now, the only thing left to make it perfect is to whip the everliving snot out of Candy. Go get 'em, Vols!!

As an 95' alum, I feel for you students that were not able to experience the victories and success that others did before you. I really mean that. Some of my happiest college memories were from sitting in that stadium with 97,000 others watching a really good product on the field.

You have seen glimpses of good this year, but by in large, you have had to deal with a lot of trash talking from every opponents fans that came to Neyland.

Better times ahead. Enjoy Saturday night! Yell loud and for four quarters. Stick around after the victory and listen to the band. It's different once you graduate.

You sir are being creepy AND ridiculous. You have lost your mind. :) Sorry couldn't help myself. :)

Florida's not ranked. Oh yeah, they have also lost 5 or so in a row. The 3 mil a year coach maybe could have helped beat them. Maybe.

They didn't suddenly get bad after us, even with their injuries. They were already bad.

Florida has lost 11 starters so thats why they suddenly became bad.

I guess better facilities, tradition, more money, higher-rated talent, etc. just aren't enough to give Butch Jones a leg up on the coach at Ole Miss. Poor guy.

Wrong.

Facilities, tradition, and money don't get on the field and play.

Higher rated talent is just that. Rated.

In our case most of the rated players were over rated and the ones that weren't, left already.

The recruiting should be your first clue. Jones can only do so much with Dooley's players and their bad habits.

Back to the UNIs…

I have missed a few games this year due to moving to VA for a job. And I am very said to say, 2 or those games my vols will have worn the grey uniforms. This makes me very sad.

I look forward to the day that Butch feels confident enough about his chances of beating Alabama on the road that he throws caution, Alabama's wishes and the NCAA rulebook to the wind and suits our boys up in orange jerseys and white pants. Tell them, "we'll take that fifteen yard penalty each half, but we are honoring an older tradition."

The grey uni's with the white helmet just doesn't work for me. A matte grey/charcoal helmet with an orange power T would look awesome

Why don't you? You're the one with the hard on for Freeze. You honestly think UT's speed looked better this year than Ole Miss did last year? Are you blind? Apparently so. I don't care how many 2-3-4 or 5 stars we had. We are slow right now. That's why Butch is recruiting speed. Since you're so hung up on stars, tell us how that 5 star recruit, Brian Darden, did while he was at UT. He became an All-American didn't he? Hell, he was a NFL Hall of Famer.

Again, you have zero clue as to what goes into building a program and what a team needs to have in place to be good again. Thank God you have zero bearing and say on what UT does going forward.

Yeah, it has been a rough road since I started my fandom in 2009. I can't cheer passionately for any other school for a few reasons:

1) Since I was a kid, I loved the color orange, even though I had no idea really who UT was
2) My first college game was Tennessee @ Memphis in the '90s. Although that game didn't really stick, my first real college game, which did make an impression, was Tennessee vs. UCLA in 2009.
3) It's my home state. No other teams in this state come close to the kind of energy this program can generate even during these down years.
4) It's my school!

I will remain a true Vol for Life for the rest of my days, because the start of my love for the Vols obviously had nothing to do with how good we were. There's no rhyme or reason to my passion (or what most would call obsession), but I love it that way!

I appreciate the words of support! Like you said, better days are ahead! I'll just be proud one day, if Jones is the guy like I think he is, to say I was here for his first ever seven home games at Tennessee and to see him conduct the band for the first time!

Easy fix. Just pursue your grad degree.............

i was 98-2001 it was truly some great years and games . i was at the arkansas game that had all the overtimes . boy back the Nutt and phil had good games against each other

Easy fix. Just pursue your grad degree.............

for an MBA in Supply Chain Management, they prefer work/internship experience, which I unfortunately do not have at this time. If I feel an MBA would be worth doing once I'm working, I will most certainly return and love me some football as a student for another season or two!

You are down to rooting for clothing. WTF?

John Brice said on 104.5 that the vote to wear the grey unis wasn't quite unanimous. Two seniors voted for all orange.
