I know a lot of folks say 'get a gray helmet' but the white helmet actually makes the gray uniform look great. It sets off the flashes of white on the rest of the uniform as well as the white and orange shoes just as the orange socks and other accessories do. We got it right the first time with this alt. uniform which is rare in this day of alt. uniform fails.

Adidas took their time on this and designed the uniform as a complete package -- taking into account everything from shoes, socks, and accessories. They didn't simply forget the helmet but rather designed the whole uniform with the white helmet in mind.

makes sense, but what about orange?

Don't like it. Not for Sr. day. 20-some Srs last chance to don the Orange, and they're going with the gray? Don't like it. I'm only 33, but sorry if too purist. I'll prepare to be flamed.

You make a good point, but it's what they want not what the fans want...

A lot of me agrees with u

My grandpa who's a blue hair wanted to riot over the jerseys. I can't imagine if they changed the helmet.

I really don't understand this. Why does a once or twice a year uniform change bother people so damn much?

If the players voted for it then the seniors wanted it. They will have been the first to don the grey unis in this new era of vol football, so I would want to wear them as my last home game as well. What a great privilege to usher in a new era.

As a senior, this game will be my last as part of the student body. I honestly couldn't be more excited about the game being a night game against an in-state 'rival' with us wearing special jersey, a do-or-die situation to go bowling, and me having third row seats in Section E.

I am literally in tears right now I'm so happy to close out my student career like this. Now, the only thing left to make it perfect is to whip the everliving snot out of Candy. Go get 'em, Vols!!

Being a student '93-'97 I feel bad for what your class has had to endure. Glad this game gets you fired up. Fifteen years ago I would have puked in the toilet at this scenario but we are where we are and it's a big game on our way back up to the top.

Good grief! You've had a horrible football experience in your time at UT. I felt robbed my Sr. year when UT went 8-4 in 1994.

No offense taken lol. I just kind of laughed, and was like yeah I kinda like them. I guess it's just old and set in ways. It's always been orange why make grey now. But traditions have to start somewhere!

This is one old "blue hair" (if I had any hair) that likes the new look (including the mock up of the grey helmet. Long as they don't lose the Orange Power T and it gets the players pumped, I say ... go for it.

Exactly, we're the Big Orange not big orange and white. As long as we keep the orange I think it's great, especially for a couple games.

Eh... It was cool once... not really excited about it this time around. I hope all the players are and I hope it help fills Neyland. :groupwave:

The shoes weren't orange and white... For the most part...

Thanks for the pic. The shoes set them off the same way our white helmet does. The whole combo works and works well as a total package - the gray would be boring without the balance of orange and white highlights. If you want to see the design look boring look no further than this:

There's no counterbalance, no contrast or flow to the Kansas uniform. Just a dull gray that has no pop whatsoever and looks out of place because there's nothing that makes the uniform flash -- no careful selection of how the colors should be presented. Kansas' version is what happens when instead of being the premier school in the premier conference you're the small school on the sponsor's list and simply get the generic version without regard to design. There's nothing wrong with Kansas' colors that should make their alt. uni fail but it does because of placement and usage.
