A few years back .... my in-laws.... again...they’re terrified of snakes..... asked me to come get one of these out of their back yard. It took off and tried to go down a hole right by the foundation of the house so I grabbed it by the tail.... had been watching Crocodile Hunter....well I’ve got it by the tail and it was a big one.... and I’m pulling with some force, but not too much when all of the sudden I get a whiff of something that smells awful.... like Michael Moore’s big fat nasty behind awful.... so I let the snake go.... smelled my hand and OMG!.... I didn’t know that snakes can musk you like that, but I do now.
That one looks full grown....Came upon a nice sized rat snake in the back of my yard the other day.

Ringneck snake. They eat mostly worms. Little danger to people.Saw two of these guys hiking yesterday. My wife actually spotted the first one. I commended her for not freaking put and simply bringing it to our attention View attachment 285383
Two of the three were 4-5 feet long and the third was .... maybe 3-4.... I didn’t see it and hit it with the mower. After I heard it being chopped I turned around and it was trying to slither away with its back half missing. Was probably a nest close by and they've hatched but haven't really dispersed. Or you have a serious rat problem and they're dealing with it.
Yep, usually may and June here in N.C.or if there is some rodent buffet close by.And today....... I ran over another one while I was mowing. WTH is going on around here? Is it mating season or what?
I saw another rat snake just down the street from the house that had been run over. They must have a healthy population in the area as they’re the only kind I ever see.Yep, usually may and June here in N.C.or if there is some rodent buffet close by.
I was cutting my food plot oats And peas down last week and I carry a long barrel judge with .410 #6 shot For rodents, I scratched 25 rats and two copperheads. There were a couple of pairs of black racers doing the snake tango too oblivious to my bush hog I had to get down and move them to keep from chopping em up.
this was all in two fields of about 4.5 acres total. So 6 snakes and probably 35-40 rats is what I saw no telling how many I chopped up or didn’t see.
Did you refer to them as your garland parents cause they were hanging around you all the time Or cause they only showed up at Christmas? I kid i kidI saw another rat snake just down the street from the house that had been run over. They must have a healthy population in the area as they’re the only kind I ever see.
My garland parents lived in Normandy, TN when I was a kid. When the dam was completed and they began flooding the lake it sent snakes out in every direction. Me and my cousins kept our heads on a swivel at all times. It was amazing..... we saw some huge snakes too
Hmmmmm never had that happen to me you should be more careful and here’s the way my mind works... with all this voice recognition software, search queries, and grammar “correction sw” around how the hell did they put garland and parents together in a sentence? Has anyone in the history of mankind ever composed a sentence with garland and parents together?Ding dang auto correct

Oh and just so as not to derail, I killed a king cobra yesterday at my barn but I was so shaken up I forgot to get pictures.
