Snowboarding/Skiing/Trips/and all things snowsports thread

Well, made it back. Back to norm. Beard is now gone. Glad to be home but what a good time. My little one below ended up skiing blues and a couple of blacks on his first trip. We went to the top the last afternoon and skied all the way down. Wife even got out there and went to the top. Surprised herself and me.
I strongly suggest saving every dime you can and taking a family trip there.

anytime. but if you don't want somebody to rationalize spending the $, don't ask me. It's either spend a ton on a wonderful week like that or save it for some day that I'm 60 something and may not even be alive.

I come home from errands today and little Jake had made two people skiing out of legos and had various trails out of playroom toys, monster truck tracks, etc. Can't put a price on that for me.

I know it ain't cheap and trust me I understand the concept of getting old and not being able to do things better than you may think (I think I'm older than you).

I'm going to start taking the kids the day after X-mas thru New Years this year..
Their 7 and 9, so the perfect age to start..

perfect age. Plus they feel bigtime when they go down the hill. Steamboat is perfect for kids. Plus, if you aren't out there as a parent with them, they can go up and down 2 little green runs right in front of the gondola, which is right in front of a huge open patio with music or live music

It will probably be Utah, that's where my sister and her family go every year

I do like Steamboat, I've skied most of Colorado,

Glad it was a good trip

My boys are 7 and 9, and they are really picking it up well. Perfect age is right.

This was my first trip where I felt really comfortable on the board, and I had SO much more fun that way. I have the bug now...looking to head West next year.

awesome, never tried the Board..
I'm fairly proficient, on the sticks, so I've just stuck with 'em..

Glad your boys enjoyed it

Utah is probably the easiest place to fly a family. The canyons is a good family friendly mountain. Plus you can stay in Salt Lake rather cheap.

I haven't had a chance to make squat at my house yet this year. Not cold enough. Hopefully over Christmas break.

Sugar. It was awesome. great conditions, no ice. only part of the mountain was open. I did go down Gunther's Way, the trail that was just cut into the mountain. It was a Black/Blue. Best of all, very few people were there.

Sounds great. I wish I lived close to a ski resort.

How many new trails this year at Sugar?

1. It was pretty steep in a couple of spots. My wife skipped it. I only went down it once. It was manageable though.

this pic is NOT of the new trail!!!

thanks. It was hard to take pictures cause all the blowers. I had to time it out on the lift.

I cant wait to hit Snowshoe in 1 month!!!

Booked a long weekend in snowshoe for January, hope to catch winterplace or NC for a day if the weather is right to tune up beforehand.

Loved snowshoe. The roads were dicey on the way up though. The Western territory was awesome.
