Just got back from Snowshoe. It was AWESOME!!! Great skiing, fresh powder & sunny skies. I love ski tracker app. We did over 20 runs each day (there for 2) & had over 20 miles each day with Skiing Elevation of 18000 ft. I reached a high speed of 50.3 mph. My favorite trail ever is Cupp Run & Upper Shays Revenge. I cant wait to go back!!!!
How much can one expect to spend for a family of four for a trip, not including airfare for a 3-4 day ski trip to Colorado? I've looked online and got even more confused.
redneck trying to ski out west question:
Base is 70 inches right now. 300 inches of snow this year. However, temps look to be like in the 50's next week. I realize it'll feel hot as hell, but will the freaking snow not melt? I'm picturing chunks of mud and grass poking thru.
depends on where you want to go. You can find a nice hotel or condo on mountains that's walking distance to where you need to go. It's your call on what you spend on meals, etc. Walking up to get a lift ticket each day for 4 people would run @ $450/day. Ski equip rentals are only like $25/day. Best bet is to hunt for the best lift ticket deal. For instance, I'm paying quite a bit. $900 for lift tickets. However, that's 4 tickets for 5 days. Buy one adult, kid skis free. That ends up costing me $45/day for each lift ticket. If we walk up without a plan 2 days out of 7, we spend $900.
I've got some buyers remorse with this already. We haven't gotten there yet and flights, condo, rentals, lessons, gear is giving me chest pains. Prolly not get a chance to do it again so just biting the bullet and praying we have a blast
Well Ober is melting fast. It was really slushy. Had difficulty managing it as I'm not used to that amount of slush. It was deeeep! Especially at the top of runs. Good news is it created a soft landing. It was at least a way to get one more chance for the year.
Bigdaddy: Skis were awsome. Thanks!
