Snowboarding/Skiing/Trips/and all things snowsports thread

what would be the list of resorts that you would choose from?
I want to try to avoid Vail & Aspen.

Places that i would likely choose from.
Jackson Hole
Steamboat Springs
Telluride
Breckenridge

any other suggestions. how late into the spring are you able to ski out there?

Jackson or Telluride. I'm not a fan of breck or SS. I'm with you on the Vail/Aspen thing. Jackson is steep and long. I think like 4800 vert from top to town. I love both but if you have more blue skiers/intermediate then Telluride is the place. Stay in town as the Mtn Village just isn't worth it IMO. The Gondola will take you from town up to the Mtn. You might save some cash online with pre sale lift tickets. You will love both resorts. Be aware, both are high alpine and you will get sick if you don't hydrate and take it easy day one. As far as how late you can ski, most close the first weekend of April.

Also I'm a big fan of Utah as well. But only ski Alta and Snowbird. I have skies much more there but those two are my favorite. Deer Valley is nice but pricey.

I actually like all the resorts on that side of the mountain (little cottonwood canyon). Cheapest resorts out west by far.

Also, you owe it to yourself to go to Whistler / Blackcomb. It's an awesome trip.

The only holdback I have with W/BC is it takes so long to get there from TN. That's what I like about Utah. I can be there 6 hrs or so

Took my 2 oldest boys (8 and 12) to Beech yesterday. Beautiful day, got a lot of sun, slushy "snow" but no crowds. I hate crowds. It was their first time snowboarding and they did incredible. Smiles and laughing all day.

That's awesome! I can't wait to take my kid. It will be while but looking forward to it

There are few things in life that are more awesome than a 5-year-old dressed like Ralphie in A Christmas Story flying by you on those tiny little skis. Kids are ruthless. At 38, I am a far more conservative skier than I've ever been, especially after a nasty fall I took 2 years ago.

Now I'm a cruiser...and that's ok. Cruising's fun.

The 8-year-old has been on a snowboard 1 day, and he is already NOT a cruiser. Those 2 picked up on it faster than I ever imagined, and I was a little nervous after hearing a horror story from one of their customer service reps who I think was trying to sell me an all-day instructor package.

Mine is three and I hope to at least get him on a tube this next winter. I hope he likes it. I'm mostly into cruising but like to hit the big black diamonds for some very and speed. Pow days are still my favorite

Very true, but the trip is fun. Fly to Seattle and drive up. Spend the day in Vancouver. Beautiful city. You will thank me later. It's a one of a kind place.

We have a T/S at Snowbird, week 12. Let me know for next year if you are interested.

we decided at 12:30am that we are gonna go to Killington for 2 nights. leave in am. ski sun & half day mon. 59 open trails. alcohol might have been a factor in decision. I'm pumped!!

Time to revive this thread. Just booked a flight to Boston and will be hitting VT slopes. More than likely staying in Stowe and hitting there and Jay's Peak. Might make a trip into Canada as well since it's so close and none of have ever been, eh? Decided to make the trip in the middle of the week with no holidays so we can avoid long lift lines.

Skiing and beer in VT will be hard to beat. I love Colorado but all the good beer places are in Denver with way less selection once you get in the mountains.

Nothing beats The Moose at Jackson Hole

we are going to try & hit Snowshoe 2x. Once in late Jan/early Feb. Then at beginning of march as well. Excited.

Heading to Utah and Jackson/Targhee in a few weeks

I really liked Targhee, better than Jackson..it's a lot less crowded

I took my kids (9 and 11) to a "hill" (Snow Creek, MO) outside Kansas City last week, and it was a great couple of days...It was perfect for their first time...They did boarding, and their equipment rental, 4 hr lessons and an all day lift ticket was only $80 bucks...

I'll definitely be taking them back

and door to door was 3:45 ....
