Snowing in Knoxville now

Really appreciate the educated reference to Alvin York and his miraculous capture of the German forces! Sarge York should get all the recognition and respect, especially in Tennessee, he deserves!
As a Fentress County native, graduate of York Institute, and semi-distant relative of Sergeant York, I really appreciate this post.

That is incredible! How cool to be related to one of America’s greatest hero’s!!! I think his story should be taught in every single classroom in Tennessee!!! Prob America too!

I hope after all this talk and all these threads, the weather settles and it’s 60 degrees and clear with no wind.

Horrible weather with bitter cold and rain and mud didn’t stop Sergeant Alvin York from taking down the Germans during the Meuse Argonne Offensive.

It’s not going to stop the ‘24 Vols in Ohio either.
Did horrible weather, bitter cold and rain and mud stop us when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?? No!

I’ve lived in Columbus, OH for the past 8 years after living in Knoxville for 12 years. Typically the weather here is 6-7 degrees colder this time of year than in Knoxville. However, the past 3 years, Knoxville has experienced very similar (if not more) amounts of snow. All that to say, the weather is not drastically different and I don’t expect it to benefit one team over the other. If anything it slightly favors UT since we are far better at running the ball. OSU has struggled to run and has lost 2 starters on the OL during the season.

Quick! Everyone outside now and sing Rocky Top 20 times while wearing nothing but orange shorts and a scarf. We’ve got to get game day ready for this.

Unfortunately I didn't get to meet the Sergeant. He died before I was born. I did know Miss Gracie, Andrew, and George very well. I used to hunt rabbits in Miss Gracie's back yard. And she raised some big ol' sweet strawberries.

As of tonight the projected high in Columbus for next Saturday is 28 and the low 17. That translates into a kickoff temperature of about 24. Anybody that doesn't think it'll make a difference is delusional. Not saying it'll affect one team more than another but temperatures in the 20's and lower affect the passer, the receiver, punter and kicker especially.

But it won't be nearly as bad as the game I saw at the AFA in 1970...... minus 3 degrees at 1:00 PM.

It does "rain" in the south and that is wet too. The southern states have challenges too - unbearable heat and humidity until it cools down to fall weather.

Agree it is a very stupid argument - the weather impacts both teams the same way.
Especially when a roster is filled with kids from all over the country 😂
