How good are the memphis schools anyways? Besides some of the Christian schools, aren't most in that area smaller schools? East TN wins a lot of state titles but doesn't produce as much d 1 talent as middle tn. You would think traditional powers like Alcoa and Maryville would constantly pump high level D1 talent

Tennessee historically does not get a lot of kids from Memphis in any sport.

Tony Harris and Omari Thomas are notable exceptions,
Given the attitudes of many East Tennesseans toward Memphis and its natives, I don't blame them for not coming east.

I live in a suburb of Memphis.
And yes, people than can afford it either move to the burbs or send their kids to private school. But I also grew up in Nashville and it was the same way there.

Crime is certainly worse in Memphis, but it’s really about knowing where not to go. Where I live, about 20 minutes outside the city, feels very similar to the suburbs in Nashville and has little crime and some of the best public schools in the state.

There’s a lot of issues in Memphis, but it is misunderstood by people who havent lived here.

Memphis is a dumpster fire as a city. Corruption and crime are rampant. Most people that have kids there either move away or send their kids to private school if they are able to. Law enforcement officers are leaving and moving to other areas because of being reprimanded for trying to enforce laws. It's very difficult for a kid in public schools to be successful in anything.

Sadly, it reminds me of Birmingham in that they are very nice areas of Memphis and the poor-rich gap is massive. You have entire chunks of the city that are trash and then a small elite part that is awesome to be in. If you stay away from bad areas, you are fine and it is actually a very nice city.

Birmingham was the same way.

Memphis says come over here and say that to their face lol

So you want to prove him wrong by beating him up and being violent. Doesn't that kind of support his narrative?

Honestly, Tennessee gets a lot of players from Memphis area. I think OP was pointing out the drop in overall talent in the area this year. It is interesting. Part of the thread got derailed with the "Memphis is bad" theme.

I've lived there, had a office off poplar ave.grew up in Nashville and no my friend they are not remotely close to the same. Best bet is to keep your butt in Cordova and don't go out anywhere after dark.

We have some really big schools in the Memphis suburbs. However, there is very little diversity in those areas. Bartlet has 2,850 students and Collierville has 2,836. They are the two biggest high schools in the State. For contrast Alcoa and Maryville have 700 and 1,240 respectively.

What do you consider diverse? I’d say Bartlett high is very diverse. A lot more now than when I graduated in 93.

Collierville as well for that matter.
