Some of these guys want a suprise announcment on NSD. Lets not fret over anyone committing this weekend. We all knew Marlon wouldn't, atleast I never expected it. Who did you all think would commit this weekend? We were after a lot of guys who are committed else where and we have got them thinking. I mean Nu'keese is torn now. We are in the top 2 with Hall now. We weren't figuring Montgomery was going to pick us, especially this weekend. These are big time guys and they want to make it a big deal. I have a feeling we are going to get a big name kid. Lets just take a deep breathe and relax because i'm stressing out reading all of these negative posts lol.

Go Vols and the coaches put their best foot forward in a little amount of time and got big names to check us out. Who knows what will happen!!

UF, USC and LSU can all attribute their recent titles to signing day.

Yeah you have to have the horses to run for the title but you also have to develop what you have. If our staff can reshape this program into a viable threat again, then the recruits will fall in line like dominoes.

Good point as well.

Panic mode is on....People, Lane and co. has had 3 or 4 months to recruit, and keep recruits already committed. Everyone says they will reserve judgment until after NSD...I don't know about anyone else, but my judgment won't be cast until we step off the field after that first game. We have players on the team right now. We have players on the team that can and will win. The sky is not falling, contrary to popular belief.

Can anyone tell me how many championships are won on NSD?

ALL of them. You don't win without players.

Here's an interesting quote to back up what I was trying to tell some of these guys earlier.

"Hall was hosted by redshirt freshman offensive lineman Preston Bailey, who told Hall the Vols are in desperate need of offensive linemen. Immediate playing time is a real factor for Hall.

“That’s exactly what I’m looking for in a school,” Hall said. “When (Bailey) said that it was just words, but when you actually look at the depth chart it’s a fact.

“It’s not just him or the coaches talking. It’s actually there to see.”

So the guys who know everything here were trying to tell me its all good and the coaches just have to coach up the OL's they have. In the meantime, the coaches are using the depth chart to sell kids that they are needed at UT. Classic.

Great.

I just love it when some remotely negative news comes out the Fulmer jock sniffers come out of the woodworks...

Yeah... anyone who realizes this doesn't look good must be hung up on Fulmer... Couldn't be all the kids that are walking away from the new staff's pitch. Even the excuse that they haven't been around long enough doesn't hold water. UT is losing recruits to Auburn... with a brand new staff as well.

They're losing to Ole Miss... with Houston Nutt as HC.

The only thing I will say right now about the previous staff is that they had a pretty decent class going. It is apparently falling apart with a staff that was specifically designed for recruiting.

I keep hoping this will work out on NSD but the prospects seem to grow more dim every time I look at the news.

What part of having 3 months to recruit don't you understand? Not to mention the staff wasn't even in place till late dec. early Jan.

It's all in perception...

You honestly think the recruits that were on campus this weekend would have been here with the previous regime?

We're talking about 18 year old kids. Who knows what they are going to decide.

But calling out the coaching staff and mocking the finish when no papers have been signed yet is stupid.

My guess is that CLK and CEO had a pretty good idea that things would be like this at this point in the game. I'm not sure what they can do at this point to remedy the situation, but I highly doubt that they are sitting around wringing their hands.

Not trying to be an a$$ or anything but Lane has been here since the first of December and the rest of the staff wasn't finalized until January so how have they had 3 or 4 months to recruit or am I missing something?

You act like I'm knocking on the coaching staff...What I'm trying to get across is that they have had virtually NO time to recruit compared to Florida, Georgia, Alabama, etc.

I'm not acting like anything here, I just asked a question based off of what you posted.

What part of Saban pulling a #10 class with no more time, a nasty separation from Miami, and the firing of Shula do YOU not understand? What part of (maybe) losing Phillips, Oku, and Shackleford to Auburn's BRAND NEW STAFF do YOU not understand?

Whether it is "fair" or not, this class is critical for CLK if he's going to succeed at UT. He MUST have OL's and he's not getting them... in fact, he's losing them.

This class was borderline before all these defections started. It is now approaching disaster.
