The dude is more full of himself than Kiffin and would have left Tennessee the same way.

We could have made a huge mistake

I have to agree. I was all for it but think we may have dodged a bullet. You know what they say, "the lord works in mysterious ways"

CBJ seems very thankful to be given the opportunity and wants to be here.

agree 100% only way he would have came is to get himself back into coaching and go to the NFL in a couple years

I think he would have been a great coach here, if he was ever actually on the table, which I doubt. The main thing is, I don't see him here more than a handful of years.

He can cut it in the NFL so that is where he would want to go. Being a college coach blows in many aspects compared to the Pros. Having to pander to 17 year olds, crisscrossing the nation for recruiting. Dealing with multiple influences from the AD, and boosters, it has to take a lot out of a person.

Yea it would suck trying to decide which 5 star recruits to look elsewhere. Also contemplating how difficult it might be to get a ticket for the spring game. Also, I know how board to death I would be trying to figure out which of these super star assistants was going to have the biggest impact. It would really suck about now.

Whatever helps you guys sleep better at night. How terrible it would have beeen to have the whole country talking about Tennessee. I don't think that I could have handled that as a fan.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe more in a 4-5 year timeframe but I do believe he would have left to go back to the NFL.

Yeah i just threw out 2 years, but either way im just not confident gruden even actually wanted to coach in college, and if he did his ego would get the best of him when the NFL came calling

No kidding. These guys are delusional. Far more than any Grudenite.

They will say anything to make themselves feel better.

OMG Coach Jones tweeted.. OMG
Look everybody ESPN said great hire.

Yea any major Sports network that says this is pretty much telling UT to know it's role.

You know why Jones kept Graham instead of bringing in "his" guy? Because Jay knew the truth with Gruden. Just like many former players. He would have blown it open.

I will bet Jay was stunned...even in the late hour. .. to hear Butch Jones would be his new head coach.

They will say anything to make themselves fell better that their school blew the opportunity for
the biggest hire in NCAA history.

Ok. In all seriousness, op, you know we would all be jumping out of our panties for a celebrity rock star hire like JG....whether or not he was/is a good fit for Tennessee. That being said, however, I can't watch MNF without getting slightly annoyed with his chucky face! Could I stand it for 4+ years...eh...maybe if we were winning. Well, YES, if we were winning...but if we were losing...I would want to punch that stupid face.

CBJ has a much more pleasant face. That's a good reason to hire a coach, right?

I'm not saying I didn't want Gruden to coach here. Just that I don't think he'd be here more than 4-5 years.

I would trade 4-5 years of the Grude for 15 years of (enter name of coach here).

What's so hard to understand about this? Your lucky to get 4-5 years out of any coach these days.
