So let's just say that...

This team manages to make the tournament and makes a sweet 16 run. Would peoples' opinion of Martin change or would you still want him gone?

A miracle may happen, but it doesn't change the fact that he can't coach. Stop the bleeding and find someone who can coach.

For Martin, he needs to make the tourney. If he does, he stays. If not I am pretty sure he's gone

If this miracle does happen and he seems to change his style and he completely changes his stagnant, terrible offensive strategy.........then sure, it would change my mind.

The best thing for UT basketball is for Martin to succeed and remain coach for a long time.

This team (last year as well) has won games when we've had a player get hot. Whether it was Golden or McRae, we've been able to win on the heels of someone getting hot. But as we've also seen over the course over a couple plus years, that's not a recipe for winning basketball.

I'd have to see how the team "manages" to make the tourney. If we crap the bed all year and win a few straight to win the SEC, I don't know. If we turn it around and I see some great coaching that makes a difference in our team, then yes.

I just have a feeling we are going to be really bad next year if we still have CCM. It won't even be a bubble type of season.

The best thing is for somehow we regroup and make the tourney, then CCM takes a job somewhere else. IMO, he has lost too much of the fan base to really ever be successful here.

It doesn't matter how successful CCM is until Pearl takes another job and fails. Until then he will not be able live up to the fan's expectations.

And what do you think it would be like if we did can him?

It depends on who we hired. I really hate the whole hiring/firing cycle that we seem to be stuck in for both sports.

I really wish CCM would succeed, and I really thought that with the late season pushes we have been having, that he was learning on the job and growing before our eyes. It seems clear to me now that he just doesn't know what he's doing.

I have never seen a D1 basketball team just stand around for 80% of the shot clock and then scramble to attack for every single second of every game before.\

Also, I'd say for the past three years we probably are near the top for most blocked shots against us.

Apparently some here don't get the concept of the question in the OP. He's not asking how possible you think it is that it happens, he's asking IF it happens.

Exactly. If it happens would it restore your faith in him? Or is everyone just giving up on him regardless of how this season finishes?

What have you seen of this team or any Tennessee team in the last 20 years to think we will make a Sweet 16 run?
