So let's just say that...

It is interesting how coaches in the past 30 years that have taken over UT after the team made the NCAAT have done rather poorly.

Houston took over for DeVoe after Tennessee made the NCAAT the year before and the best he did was the 2nd round of the NIT twice. He also tied the school record for losses at 22 twice, and owns the worst single season record of 5-22.

Peterson took over for Green after Tennessee went to 4 straight NCAATs and went to 2 NITs and never got past the first round.

And now Martin has had better records than Houston and Peterson but about the same NIT success.

Under our annual 9-1 rise to the top plan. That would be 2 wins there.

Those 2 especially at home wouldn't be enoug.

I have already said that looking at Virginia's first 11 games they don't appear to be a quality win in the end

You conveniently failed to answer the other question.

Your original post, which started this debate was....if we are 13-7 come February 1st, our RPI would be near or at triple digits, the season would be over, and Martin's a$$ should be fired.

All I was trying to say was at 13-7...our RPI would likely be nowhere near 100, in fact closer to 40 than 100. The season would be far from over, and Martin would still be the coach.

Just be clear you said in the 40s

And you said near triple digits, I can assure you I'm closer.

You seem to be making a habit of only answering/responding to parts of posts, why is that?

55 is closer to triple digits than not.

In the 40s is in the 40s

You should do a better job of qualifying your arguments

Oh I watched Houston's teams. I'm in no way saying he's worse than him.

He was ranking the top 3 worst coaches in 25 years. I merely stated jury is still out where he ranks.

How has he done better than Buzz?

Record?

How many NCAA appearances did both make?

Buzz did bring us Lofton

Are you seriously trying to argue Martin hasn't done leaps and bounds better than Buzz? Peterson was horrible and never won more than 17 games and that happened once. He won 15 or fewer every other year. Marin 19, 20 and probably 20 something with a bid this year.

Cart before the horse?

Very much so. Although I will grant him that Martin is better than Buzzball Peterson.

They can get there if they run and guys like Reese can supply the outside shooting and bench spark they need. If it drops back to the silly, ugly stuff he has been trying to do without having the type players he needs to do it - NIT here we come. The sad part is we all understand it, but I am no sure Martin does.

We have to press Davis into service in order to make the dance. We have to much trouble against taller post and as someone said our post have trouble jumping over a license plate with out getting their toe caught on the raised rim.
