So let's just say that...

stupid question. the guy cant even follow the game well enough to inform his players to foul to put the other team in the bonus

if he changes his style and the team actually looks like they want to play basketball, yeah, theres reason for excitement moving forward.

What have you seen of this team or any Tennessee team in the last 20 years to think we will make a Sweet 16 run?

Reading is hard. I'm asking IF it were to happen would that change your opinion of Martin. Nowhere did I say it would happen or that I think it would happen.

So now the CCM appologist are using the CBP had the same or worse problems with half court offense as "half season" does???

There is one HUGE difference. CBPs teams didn't play in the court by design. Those teams knew it was a weakness and wanted a full court game.

Half seasons teams aren't good in the half court but want games played that way. Huge difference in the CBP teams.

Pearl's last team averaged 69.9 points. Every year pretty much after the second year the team scoring dropped under Pearl. People hated his O the last couple of years.

So at least Martin's teams are playing how he wants, we just aren't making shots and free throws. I guess Pearl wanted to play a certain way but could not due to coaching and the other team dictating the pace. Which is worse?

Agreed. I say fire him now and hire a proven coach that makes the other colleges say uh oh they mean business. Similar to what we did in football.

We did.....I guarantee the rest of the sec has taken notice of how butch is recruiting........Zo is the kind of coach that the rest of the sec will defend if tennessee thinks about firing him.

No doubting CBP had problems coaching his teams in the half court but again he was smart enough to have a style that didn't want the game in the half court.

The point is comparing CBJ and CCM due to their deficiencies in the half court is completely unwarranted.

Pearl coached the offense and defense according to the strengths of his players. Martin has no idea when he even needs to foul in the closing minutes of a game. That's the difference between a coach and someone who has played the game.

Exactly. If it happens would it restore your faith in him? Or is everyone just giving up on him regardless of how this season finishes?

Pennington asked a very similar question right before the season started on the Sportsource. The question was that if TN had a very successful year and CCM became a hot commodity and left UT would the fan base care. Everyone on the show agreed that the fans would not care if he left even if we made the tourney and had a decent run.

I do not personally know 1 person that supports CCM. Not one. No one that I work with. No one that I workout with. None of my friends. No one that I go to church with. I sit around season ticket holders and everyone have the same opinion that they think he needs to go. The only people that I know that support him are on this forum. Other than that, I do not know anyone that is a CCM fan. I honestly have not heard anyone say that they think he's a great coach and glad that he's at UT.

Hymm's said today that Pearl told him that his lawyer is petitioning the NCAA to reduce his show cause. If that happens, the closer we get to April the louder we will hear the CCM has to go after each and every loss. IMO, there's nothing CCM can really do to get out of CBP shadow until Pearl is hired by some other university.

Agreed. I used to support him but it's becoming increasingly difficult to with the decisions being made on the court. I'm willing to see what happens the rest of the season but right now it seems he is not what we need.

My opinion would change. But it would be a miracle for this to happen. Martin hasn't showed he can even make the tournament much less actually beat some well coached teams in it.

Zook recruited pretty nicely didn't he? Kiffin too?

Recruiting doesn't matter much if you can't coach does it?

I don't disagree, and yes at this point you're likely not going to find anyone hardly that supports him; but the problem I have it is increasingly clear we have a fanbase that is way too in love with Pearl.

I get why he's popular, and all. But it's really bothersome that the vibe is growing that if UT doesn't rehire Pearl that it really doesn't matter who we get, the fans aren't going to support him.

So as much as I like Pearl, if he isn't hired here, and if he is hired by another program, I have no choice but to hope he's an utter failure.
