Just watched my last UT BB game. "Team leader" Tyler and his doping tattooed coharts won't be on my viewing list anymore. And thanks, Tyler, for projecting the thug image of the Vols right here at recruiting time. I would rather watch some good guys lose em all than watch that bunch again. Give em a pass if you want----no mas for me. Tennessee is an institution of higher learning---First and foremost, and one I am currently not very proud of.

Win at all cost? I think not.

I agree everyone needs to chill out. Everyone smokes pot. They just were just stupid enough to speed while hotboxing their car. The robbery was a much more serious crime than smoking weed.

I have been a big supporter of CBP. But is this Jerry Green coming back reincarnated??

What exactly do you think these kids do, learn to play basketball and suddenly become angels just because they get a scholly??!! Many of the best basketball players are from bad neighborhoods with gangs, bad influences, and very little parenting. Please see the extraordinary amount of talent that is produced in the Memphis area each year for proof of this. Some will make the right decisions and others will make stupid decisions.

I hate to say this and will probably be railed for even mentioning this but, I really miss the good old days when the cops would call the coach rather than booking the players. I know its not right but, at this point, I'd take anything to stop UT from being made to look like thugs-r-us.

This one was very embarrassing for sure especially after winning such a big game against a tough Memphis team at Memphis. The future was looking pretty bright for both the UT Basketball and Football teams and then December 31st to Jan. 1st happened. Football team gets creamed, and then nearly a third of the basketball team scholarship players are arrested together. At least make it a rule if your going to be an idiot and od something illegal and stupid, please do said act with people not on your team at least!

Well with that attitude I'm glad you just watched your last UT BB game. Tennessee can't make decisions for the kids they make their own, so don't get mad at UT or the basketball program. How are the coaches supposed to know that these kids are going to do this.

About the alcohol - they are all of legal age. And Tatum was not charged with a DUI (I'm assuming they checked his blood alcohol level) so I see no problem with that aspect of it.

This could be one of the best things to happen to ut in a long time. For all of you who think that pearl is a good coach ... YOUR WRONG! From day one he has recruited the most thugged out kids he could find. He is a poor recruiter and coach. The one thing he does well is motivate his team but it takes more than that to win national championships. He has never recruited a pg or big man worth a crap. He gets athletes and although we have seen improvement in the program were still not ever going to win it all with these players and cbp. Now don't get me wrong a lot of the success is because of him but these sweet sixteen seasons get old after a while. We never beat the top programs because he is not an x and o type of coach. Williams is terrible and so are tatum and goins. Smith could have been good but is lazy and a wanna be gangster. We need someone like roy williams, coach k or tom izzo. We need more fundamentally sound players, maybe a pg who can handle the ball. I mean come on we have tyler smith bringing up the floor at times. Smith and chism should be playing hi low and staying inside. He has no clue as to who the best five on the floor are. I love tennessee sports but I get so tired of watching this mess when they could win games with a better coach.

Can the University not hire about 6-12 (or maybe 3 dozen) off duty cops whose only job is to account for the whereabouts of every player all the time! I know this sounds extreme but Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Mathew, Mark Luke and John!!!!

Also an assistant coach needs to ride along whenever a player gets in a vehicle to go anywhere, anytime!

So long and good riddance. Enjoy watching youth church league games from now on.

Why were they packing heat? Why would they go to places where they need a gun? Is it not a 2nd amendment right to have a gun? Why have a gun with an altered serial #? Did they know guns were in the car? Were they just trying to be cool or just stupid or both?

The thug culture is rampant in today's football and basketball athletic programs at all levels. These 4 were stupid enough to get caught. This is not to say that the vast majority of people who participate are thugs, but many are. Our fabulous 4 may not be thugs, but they see the "coolness" of the culture and apparently want to imitate it or just think it is fun. I hate to see young people like Tyler, NuKeese and others have their lives derailed when they have such a potentially great future. It is really sad and has put a blemish on our program, like it or not, because of stupidity and just trying to act like the idiotic crowd.

I hope Pearl or Hamilton kick all of them off the team. We take our lumps this year and start anew for the future. The remaining players should be put on notice that this behavior is not tolerated. Period.

Bottom line, It's ridiculous to blame any coach for the stupid acts kids commit. They are not their parents (the ones who taught them right from wrong). They don't live with them, nor are they able to supervise them 24/7. However it is the coaches responsibility to act accordingly if these kids choose to commit crimes, embarrass the university etc. This action on the coaches part is what they should be judged on, good bad or otherwise.

How? Instead of checking their VERTICAL, maybe they could check their background. Your friends and enemies know you pretty well. As far as attitude, I think the attitude problems just got arrested.

Guns and drugs go together. Buyers and dealers are afraid of getting ripped off, or intending to do so. Quite a lifestyle. :ermm:

Mostly happens with crack/cocaine...people don't shoot each other over weed. Witness South Central; it exploded when cocaine became popular.
