So long--ut basketball

I agree everyone needs to chill out. Everyone smokes pot. They just were just stupid enough to speed while hotboxing their car. The robbery was a much more serious crime than smoking weed.

No, everyone doesn't smoke pot. Especially if you're told not to by your coach and you'll be drug tested. Riding around in a car with drugs and 2 guns....just another thug.

You're

This could be one of the best things to happen to ut in a long time. For all of you who think that pearl is a good coach ... YOUR WRONG! From day one he has recruited the most thugged out kids he could find. He is a poor recruiter and coach. The one thing he does well is motivate his team but it takes more than that to win national championships. He has never recruited a pg or big man worth a crap. He gets athletes and although we have seen improvement in the program were still not ever going to win it all with these players and cbp. Now don't get me wrong a lot of the success is because of him but these sweet sixteen seasons get old after a while. We never beat the top programs because he is not an x and o type of coach. Williams is terrible and so are tatum and goins. Smith could have been good but is lazy and a wanna be gangster. We need someone like roy williams, coach k or tom izzo. We need more fundamentally sound players, maybe a pg who can handle the ball. I mean come on we have tyler smith bringing up the floor at times. Smith and chism should be playing hi low and staying inside. He has no clue as to who the best five on the floor are. I love tennessee sports but I get so tired of watching this mess when they could win games with a better coach.

So long and good riddance. Enjoy watching youth church league games from now on.

Well we know which column to put you in.

My thugs are better than yours?

This is an opinion board, you voiced yours--AICCL---and I voiced mine-----and so shall I continue--Just won't be supporting Tyler and Co.

They really didnt do anything.. the gun was the problem, not the drugs

With out the drugs the guns would have never been found. With out the drugs it would have been a simple speeding ticket. So, I'd say the drugs were the problem. I know it's hard for the rest of you dope heads to admit that drugs are a problem but with out the smell of pot the cop gives Tatum a speeding ticket, payable through the mail and all this never happens.

:lolabove: funny stuff.

So it's a logistics question then. The presence of drugs were a bad thing because they got the guns discovered?

Yes, you heard me right, kids..you can ride with weed OR guns, but not both. Never both!!

So you're saying weed is a problem because it's illegal? Shouldn't it be the other way around...

You don't kick someone off a team for smoking pot. Especially for a first time violation. Suspension...yes. But the major issue are the gun charges. I think we need to wait and see what other information comes out first. But I seriously can't believe all of the vol fans that truly believe that these kids should be kicked off the team and have their future thrown away because of this. Yes, they made a mistake. But it didn't harm anyone or put anyone in danger unlike Nu'Keese and Mike Edwards.

I hate to say this and will probably be railed for even mentioning this but, I really miss the good old days when the cops would call the coach rather than booking the players. I know its not right but, at this point, I'd take anything to stop UT from being made to look like thugs-r-us.
with heather harrington around, nothing is going unreported... and then re-reported by hymans... I agree it was easier before the internets..

Filed Saturday night special> BB gun ?
Better think further on the potential endangerment.

Just watched my last UT BB game. "Team leader" Tyler and his doping tattooed coharts won't be on my viewing list anymore. And thanks, Tyler, for projecting the thug image of the Vols right here at recruiting time. I would rather watch some good guys lose em all than watch that bunch again. Give em a pass if you want----no mas for me. Tennessee is an institution of higher learning---First and foremost, and one I am currently not very proud of.

Win at all cost? I think not.

Good riddance.

I believe that he has lost 3 or 4 point guard recruits and has had to plug in Junior College guys to try to fill in. The kid from Chattanooga was going to be his big man but that did not work out as hoped. I think one of his flaws is rotating in too many people but that is a blessing and a curse. He appears to actually be a pretty good coach to me. Because not everyone wants to play for him or at Tennessee sometimes he has to make due with JC's, transfers, and other fixes.

I think that in his early years he seemed to do more with less but looking back Jujuan, and C. Lofton, were extremely good particularly at crunch time. If we had either one of those two this team would be smoking in my opinion. Our current wings are longer but not nearly as consistent with perimeter shooting or nearly as good on defense.

NO EVERYONE DOES NOT SMOKE POT

Maybe you do...But Think the Lord Jesus I don't

These four needs to be to told to hit the road...

Why were they packing heat? Why would they go to places where they need a gun? Is it not a 2nd amendment right to have a gun? Why have a gun with an altered serial #? Did they know guns were in the car? Were they just trying to be cool or just stupid or both?

The thug culture is rampant in today's football and basketball athletic programs at all levels. These 4 were stupid enough to get caught. This is not to say that the vast majority of people who participate are thugs, but many are. Our fabulous 4 may not be thugs, but they see the "coolness" of the culture and apparently want to imitate it or just think it is fun. I hate to see young people like Tyler, NuKeese and others have their lives derailed when they have such a potentially great future. It is really sad and has put a blemish on our program, like it or not, because of stupidity and just trying to act like the idiotic crowd.

I hope Pearl or Hamilton kick all of them off the team. We take our lumps this year and start anew for the future. The remaining players should be put on notice that this behavior is not tolerated. Period.

I am not sure what they did that some of you think they can be labeled thugs. I have had beer in my car. I have smoked weed. I have had a gun in my car sometimes. I do not rob, kill or intimidate. Am I a thug?

Just what makes a thug.? CERTAINLY NOT GUNS AND BEER.

They just said on CBS that they talked to Pearl and that he was going to deal with each individual and each will be treated according to the facts that he learns combined with each players history (problems/violations). He said all may see some of the next 2 games and then again none of them may see playing time in either of the next 2. Thus far, he has only spoken with 2 of the 4.

If that's true, there is the problem. Those 4 ought to be at CP's house cleaning the gutters, washing the windows, or running suicides in TBA. Their lives off the basketball court should be complete and total misery.

Considering you probably didn't even follow UT basketball until Pearl got here, good riddance. We won't miss you.

Maybe we can get Jesus Christ to coach our team? When you get a clue, feel free to post again. Until then, please don't reproduce.

I agree. Even though traces of the drug will be in their systems for the next 30 days, I'd make them think they were gonna run til they sweated every bit of it out of them.

Good post. We do need a guard that can pull up and hit a shot. I didn't mean he is a terrible coach I just think he motivates them but when its crunch time he doesn't come through but maybe its just he doesn't have that go to guy.
