So many threads about playoff scenarios (rightfully so) but can we discuss bowl scenarios if we don't get in?

What tf are you talking about? In no way did I make it sound like we UNDER achieved. All things considered means our bowl outlook before the season.
It was a joke, hence the lol. Just the way you worded things. "Decent consolation prize" sounds so negative šŸ˜‚ I don't know how to explain what I mean.

Absolutely some will lose their minds. If it were my son (especially one that had battled injuries), I don't know that I wouldn't advise him to sit. It's more important for the skill kids where .15 off a 40 time could mean the difference in a 2 round swing. If Tillman declares, he needs to be in peak condition for the combine. Hyatt has played his way into the 1st round of several mocks, so I'd hate to see him lose that opportunity due to a freak injury.
Everybody praised Matt Corral last season for playing against Baylor. And thenā€¦ he had what looked like a really bad leg injury. It couldā€™ve been worse, but I think things like that will have a lasting effect .

I really think the NY6 games are really the biggest losers when it comes to Bowl games. Everyone thatā€™s playing came so close to the CFP, which usually means there are some very good players on those teams who potentially have a lot to lose. It also means that the teams are not really interested in playing hard, UF 2020 vs Oklahoma for example. Iā€™d love to see some incentives in the NIL deals to keep some of these guys playing , but thatā€™s selfish on my part.

I just hope the team makes the 4 team CFP because I want this team to stick together until the very end. If the team is relegated to the Sugar Bowl or beyond, I can see some players opting out to prepare for the draft. I would think the team would remain cohesive if the Natty was within reach.

Christ, we've been good for one season and we're already using language like this?? SMDH.

But it is accurate this year. Assuming we win out and get the shaft from the committee, that will relegate us to the Sugar Bowl. No living Vol fan in July would have said the Sugar Bowl would be a disappointment. But the way the chips are stacked "NOW", the Sugar bowl will be a letdown when EVERY fan feels we deserve to be in the playoff.

We will end up in the Sugar Bowl if left out of the CFP.
Assuming that TCU is in the CFP since we got left out, that would put Kansas State in the Sugar Bowl.
If by some weird stroke both us and TCU are left out of the CFP, they would play us in the Sugar Bowl.

Either way, it'll be an arse stomping that neither team will likely forget.
Hooker opts out for the draft and we see the rebirth of Joe Milton 3, version 2.0...

Then we shouldve handled business in Athens. I started thinking Sugar Bowl as soon as we lost that game and I certainly wouldnt see it as something weve been "relegated" to. We havent been to the Sugar Bowl since 1991. 11-1 and a Sugarbowl appearance is a hell of a successful season and far beyond what I ever thought we'd accomplish this year.

As for deserving to be in the playoffs. Well, unfortunately thats not for us to decide since we no longer control our own destiny. If we get in, great. If we dont, well, clearly the committe saw it differently. Disappointing? Sure. But its not a season wrecker by any means.

And I will be on record early by saying more power to them. Hooker is obviously going in the draft, but if Tillman and Hyatt declare and don't want to risk injury, I don't blame any of them one bit if they opt out of a bowl game. Tillman especially who has been battling the injury all year. He doesn't need a setback heading into draft prep.

Edit to add it would be cool to see Milton on a big stage against a decent opponent with a month to prepare as the starter. Obviously would love to see HH one more time, but totally understand if he doesn't play.
Not sure but I think HH will play and finish what he started . JMO Maybe wrong

I think the Orange Bowl is definitely an option, most likely vs Clemson. I think the Sugar Bowl will want LSU for obvious reasons, I wish it were us vs Texas. I still think we get in if Ohio State beats Michigan

So you're saying the only way we should ever want to get in the playoffs is to be undefeated? Since no 1 loss SEC team has been left out of the playoffs (except for Covid year), yes, it will definitely be a let down from where we are now. The very definition of relegate is "to banish". We would be banished from the playoffs and left to the Sugar Bowl.

Like I said, in July, every Vol fan would have taken the Sugar Bowl in a heartbeat. Now that we have made it this far, it will be very disappointing to be left out...especially when 2 of the 4 teams ahead of you have to play head-to-head. This will mean somebody would have to jump us, and there is no resume out there that could justify that jump simply by winning their conference. The committee says their job is to pick the best 4 "teams". Yes, I hope TCU and USC lose to help us, but I don't see how anybody can justify jumping a TCU or Clemson over us as a "better team" simply because they won a crappy conference.

I agree, but there's also people out there who say the CFP committee would have no choice. And it's a decent argument. Yes, we destroyed them... but maybe the committee looks at that game and particularly the 4th down plays and sees it as being much closer than the final score indicates. If they have wins over two top 8 teams, like we do, including the #1 team in the country AND an SEC Championship under their belt.... I mean I get it. They also beat Ole Miss who likely finishes 10-2.

But I just don't think you can completely forgive the loss to FSU and overlook the fact that we beat them badly on their home field, while our loss to UGA was *only* by 14 and it was on the road.
This would absolutely be horse ****ā€¦ 40-13 is ā€œa lot closer than it looksā€ and 27-13 is ā€œlopsidedā€ā€¦ the CFP will literally just be making **** up as they go

I'm trying to make holiday plans here lol.

Thinking about buying Peach Bowl tickets and Sugar Bowl tickets and selling whichever one we don't play in.... but my luck is I do that and we end up #3 playing in the Fiesta :D
Sorry for that delima.

I'm only 6 hours away from Tempe and 1 hour from Pasadena.
