So much Tennessee flavor on this staff.

Jay Graham... Maybe Tee Martin, but I doubt it the way things are going.

Promises... Promises

and just who should he hire? Seems 2 out of a possible 9 is pretty decent right?

Dude the people posting this garbage would ***** if someone walked up and handed them a $20 dollar bill because it wasn't a $100 bill.

CBJ needs to surround himself with people that know and can run his system. I hope home pulls Tee but even if not, I expect these guys to do very well!

Better than all that Gruden garbage you posted.

Anyway... We get told that we're going after the best coaching staff in America... Well that's a lie. Then we're told it will have Tennessee flavor ie former coaches and we have but one.

You guys can keep buying what is being shoveled but I won't.

I don't think it has to be purely former Vol players either though... It could be former vol coaches. Ron Zook for instance.

As for players, there's Dale Jones as well.

And we haven't got Tee yet so don't get ahead of yourself.

Imagine how difficult it would be if he hired all 9 staff guys from all different places. It would take them forever to get on the same page. These guys have been with Jones since Day 1. They know his system.

Don't you see, Cinci was just one Jay Graham away from being the best in the country.

But seriously, if he brings Tee in that is about as Orange as it needs to be. There is no real reason to fill the staff with former TN players and coaches. Urban Meyer brought a boat load of assistants with him from Utah to FL and that worked out OK. It's better that CBJ has a staff that he is comfortable with and vice versa than to placate fan nostalgia.

Exactly. The last thing we need is him spending the next year getting used to a new staff. Let him do his thing, his way, and reserve your judgement for the appropriate time. It's the least we can do...

Yeah, who are all the former Vols that he should be hiring?

Marion hobby - DL
Kevin Steele - LB
That's two that SHOULD have been contacted and would be an obvious upgrade from UC's staff, and WOULD come here.

Ron Zook -DC
Don't know if he'd take the job but should be called.

I wouldn't touch zook with a 30 foot pole. Let Butch bring who he wants. He has to has his program instilled.

Jay Graham is enough for me. If Tee comes back that'd be even better. I strongly believe Tee will come to Knoxville. Martinez and Jancek are notable names connected to UGA. Those four names have TN, AL, NC, SC, GA absolutely covered on the recruiting trail. I think CBJ will put together one of the best staff's in the country. $3 million is top notch for assistants.

Didn't know Zook played at UT.

Jones will put the staff that he is comfortable coaching with. He even told the players his system is proven, but if you don't buy in its useless.

It's not about who is actually on the coaching staff. It certainly helps to have a couple of UT alum as coaches, but I really like the emphasis CBJ put on his open door policy for letter winners. The likes of Leonard Little, Al Wilson, Jason Witten, Peyton Manning and many many others just being around practices and the program will benefit young players and intrigue recruits to be able to have access to such legendary players.

Imagine him hiring the best defensive coordinator money can buy and let that guy hire his own assistants? Not a hard concept to grasp is it? Why would hiring Randy Shannon upset the apple cart? He wants to bring all his buds....not the most qualified ones. I tried to be optimistic, but simply transplanting Cincinnati's staff to this one is running high on the suckage meter.

I'm about to the point where I'm going to give up following Vol football for a while. This is getting worse and worse.

And that is fine if that is how he feels. He should just tell us that and not promise the best staff in the country. It would have been okay to explain it that way without the promise.

How about we let the guy hire the staff that he thinks will give us the best chance to win?

Just a thought.

Seems a bit much to obsess over an individual statement made by someone who had maybe had two hours' worth of sleep, if that, and running on excitement and preparing to go recruiting.

Geeze, people.

Why on earth should Jones bring a back stabber like Ron Zook back to Knoxville?

I am thinking most of you complaining haven't looked up the guys he is bringing in. From the looks of it, they all have had pretty good career's. Cincy had a top 15 defense in the nation, they rushed for 200 yards a game, the coaches he has brought in so far for Cincy have been coaches directly responsible for these stats.

Sure, they are not the big names people have probably heard of. But doesn't mean they are not the best coaches. We could have brought in all the big names out there, if they would have failed you guys still would have *****ed, so why not let the man bring in who he thinks will work and then we play some football. You will get your chance to ***** if they fail and if they work out, they will be considered the best staff in America.
