Fulmer was a victim of circumstance more than bad coaching, in my estimation. In both the seasons he fielded teams with losing records, the quarterback situation had gone south. In 2005, Erik Ainge spent time injured or, when he was healthy, playing really poorly due to a bad offensive coordinator/quarterback coach (Randy Sanders) coaching him up/down. In 2008, Jonathan Crompton didn't live up to the high expectations the press and coaches had for him, and he struggled mightily. Did Fulmer have a bad recruiting class in 2008? Yes, he did. He only had the 40th best class in the country. But he also had to change offensive coordinators due to Cutcliffe taking the job at Duke. I think the offense was in a state of transition when Dave Clawson took Cutcliffe's place because he was running a completely different offense that was akin to the spread.

I would take Fulmer back in a heartbeat. I will admit that I was one of the ones who had misgivings about him after 2005 and definitely after the 2008 season, but all in all, the man is a Hall of Fame head coach, and I think he should be seriously approached to see if he would want the head coach's position once again.

wow cant believe this happening knowone wants to be head coach at Tennessee what fate must we endure. I honestly think we should go after John Chavis as head coach we know our defense would be better.

Our VOL fans are getting what their deserve. Grip and complain about every thing, bash the coaching staff, the football team, the recruits, the AD, the University's Administration,etc.
Why would a top coach want to put up with all that crap from our 'so called" fans. What a bunch of idiots and losers.

why didn't we go after Bielema? smash-mouth SEC type football. Who else is out there like that we are not thinking about? and what really lights my fire is the feeling that Hart really hasn't went all out for anyone. if it's true that he never even met with Strong?? come on!

Complete " fail" by Hart and Cheek. Both must go. I'm tired of wasting my money and very possibly are done until they are both fired. We'll see how this debacle turns out but it doesn't look good.

We're going to wake up to a press conference where Rick Neuheisel is announced as our new coach with Hart and Cheek both saying that's who they wanted all along.

Offer PF a year or two tell him Chaney Pittman and graham stay get a DC or try to get Chavis. In two years look for a coach or if doing great again go one more year. He must have the fire to coach and recruit again. He loves UT
