Checker Neyland is a really cool sight and is the best looking crowd in all of college football. However, so many teams are doing it now (Arkansas, for example) that it seems a bit diluted now. We didn’t come up with the idea originally, but we did it best and now we’re doing it every year and everyone else is too.
Hey, If it jacks people up and our opponent still knows they’re unworthy, then checker it up.

Because Neyland is one of the few fully-enclosed and symmetrical, double-deck, bowl-shaped stadiums, the checkerboard look is more impressive than in most other places. Look at my avi, and tell me that is not a cool sight.

100% agree. As I said, we do it best without a doubt and we have the best color. I was kinda saying something like this: the Battle at Bristol was awesome and one-of-a-kind, but do we want to do it every year?

Yeah this is kinda ridiculous. It’s become traditional right? Why not do it. Even as a GA fan I have always thought it was kinda cool to see the way you guys checker Neyland.

Fussing about it is kinda like fans on this forum being down on fans for discussing a game that is later in the season. Saying things like “We need to focus on Florida first!” as if two TN fans discussing the Nov. GA game is going to somehow distract the Vols from being prepared to play Florida. It’s very comical.

Lots of schools have. Although most call it “striping” instead of checkering. .

Oklahoma the first time was awesome. It’s got worse over the years and doesn’t look as good because so many off colors in all sections. It was special early on but doing it every year is becoming routine and doesn’t look like that picture

I was at the A&M game last season, and Checker Neyland is even more awesome live than in pics or on TV.
