So the committee is officially a joke

To me, conference winners getting in automatically ia the dumbest idea ever. That would mean geography trumps quality. Just because OSU may be the best up north doesn't mean they are a top team.

Totally agree.

Let's say georgia loses all 4 non-conference games, but sweeps the conference, including the champ game, beating an undefeated Bama, leaving bama with 1 loss...

Does anyone (other than the ***** pups) seriously think that ga should go to the playoff and leave bama at home, especially if the other "conference champs" have similar issues (aka ohio state)?

Get the best four teams judging the totality of work. Someone will always be mad. Politics is everywhere (see auburn in 04, heisman, etc.)

Finish 3rd and still get.
Auburn beats both playoff teams by double digits then gets penalized for playing in the conference championship game.
And I can't believe I was foolish enough to convince myaelf that the committee would put OSU in.

your right. you are foolish. :hi:

Tell me how Alabama did.

I don’t like Alabama -
I was pulling for Wisconsin so that it would be easy, but, Ohio was whipped by an unranked team. I am not saying Alabama was the only choice but given the choice between them and OSU, it is obvious.

Oh look someone who thinks it’s supoosed to be the 4 most deserving teams instead of the 4 Best Teams.

Oh look someone who thinks Bama should intentionally forfeit all their games since everyone knows they're one of the 4 best teams each year.

Just messing with you but it's easy to twist someone's point

And this is why if we ever want to get into the playoffs we need to schedule weak ooc opponents. If OSU played BYU instead of Oklahoma then they would have gotten in over Bama

Maybe they should just win the games they do schedule.

It just goes to show you that all Alabama has to do is beat everybody except Auburn and they still get in and that the conference championship means nothing.

I hate Bama, but they got the four best teams.

Ohio State QB couldn't hit wide open receivers last night.

Badgers are a joke. Auburn will beat them 20+ in Citrus Bowl.

I’ll just repost this with what happened last year it had to be bama

Penn st won conference last yr and didn’t get in even with head to head victory

Also OSU got shutout 31-0 when they did get in they would be playing Clemson again while bama has played 2 great games with them in the playoffs

Why make us watch the blowout again when we all wanna see good competitive football in the playoff

IMO it ain’t that hard frick OSU’s better wins they had 3 or 4 great wins last year and it didn’t mean ****

Oh yea didn’t even mention Iowa loss

NOBODY wants to see JT Barrett in playoffs

Should just do away with conference's. Conference champions don't mean anything anymore. I really hate that.

OSU would of been blown out again and committee would of looked dumb as hell for not seeing It coming

Barrett just sucks

While bama has played 2 great games with clemson in playoffs already

Plus bama hasn’t been blown out in idk how long

They will play clemson much closer but I’m hoping they lose

Utah beat Alabama in a bowl. Boise St. beat Oklahoma in a bowl. I’m not buying that weak conference angle.

First of all... getting up for one big game is not the same thing as playing a P5 conference schedule week in week out.

When Bama isn’t playing for a N.C. the players don’t care enough. That is what they lose those games. Lack of motivation by them and all the motivation in the world for those other teams to knock of the mighty Crimson Tide.

Bob Stoops was a BCS choker.

The committee was officially a joke before it was ever in existence. The so called playoff has been a farce from the get go.

MBRO, that's as cynical as I've ever seen you, man. :)

I think the CFP has actually been okay. And I think the reason I'm so comfortable with it is because I don't get caught up with the #4 vs #5 and #6 question.

For me (and I think for the committee), it's not about being sure they got the right #4. It's about being sure that all the teams who might actually be the #1 team in the country are included.

Could Clemson legitimately be the best this year? I think so. Oklahoma? Absolutely. Bama? Yep. Georgia? I would've said no after how they played Auburn a few weeks ago, but after yesterday, yep.

So All of those teams really might be the #1. Legit.

I don't feel that way about Ohio State, and certainly not about Wisconsin. Never felt that way about USC or Washington. TCU might've been a different story if they'd beaten Oklahoma at least one of the two times they met.

So yeah, without worrying about the whole "why'd they go with this guy over that guy?" question, I'm comfortable at the most basic level: the #1 team in the country is certainly in that group of four, and should emerge as our national champ.

Alabama best team in conference = No
Alabama best team in division = No
Alabama best team in state = No

How can they be the best team in the nation?

If urban wanted a better shot at getting in he should of made it clear in post game that Haskins would be starter going forward

Nobody wants to see Barrett useless ass again

It's slightly better than the BCS. Did they really et the 4 best teams though? How do we know for sure that UCF doesn't deserve a shot? I'll grant you that they play in a lesser conference and the competition isn't as stiff. But that's where my opinion differs from most. I'd like to see what they can do against Alabama or Oklahoma or whoever.

I'm clearly on record that I'd prefer a system that takes subjectivity completely out of the equation. What that system is I don't know. I just know that everyone has a different opinion on who the best 4 teams are.
