To me, conference winners getting in automatically ia the dumbest idea ever. That would mean geography trumps quality. Just because OSU may be the best up north doesn't mean they are a top team.
Oh look someone who thinks its supoosed to be the 4 most deserving teams instead of the 4 Best Teams.
Ill just repost this with what happened last year it had to be bamaFinish 3rd and still get.
Auburn beats both playoff teams by double digits then gets penalized for playing in the conference championship game.
And I can't believe I was foolish enough to convince myaelf that the committee would put OSU in.
Utah beat Alabama in a bowl. Boise St. beat Oklahoma in a bowl. Im not buying that weak conference angle.
The committee was officially a joke before it was ever in existence. The so called playoff has been a farce from the get go.
It's slightly better than the BCS. Did they really et the 4 best teams though? How do we know for sure that UCF doesn't deserve a shot? I'll grant you that they play in a lesser conference and the competition isn't as stiff. But that's where my opinion differs from most. I'd like to see what they can do against Alabama or Oklahoma or whoever.MBRO, that's as cynical as I've ever seen you, man.
I think the CFP has actually been okay. And I think the reason I'm so comfortable with it is because I don't get caught up with the #4 vs #5 and #6 question.
For me (and I think for the committee), it's not about being sure they got the right #4. It's about being sure that all the teams who might actually be the #1 team in the country are included.
Could Clemson legitimately be the best this year? I think so. Oklahoma? Absolutely. Bama? Yep. Georgia? I would've said no after how they played Auburn a few weeks ago, but after yesterday, yep.
So All of those teams really might be the #1. Legit.
I don't feel that way about Ohio State, and certainly not about Wisconsin. Never felt that way about USC or Washington. TCU might've been a different story if they'd beaten Oklahoma at least one of the two times they met.
So yeah, without worrying about the whole "why'd they go with this guy over that guy?" question, I'm comfortable at the most basic level: the #1 team in the country is certainly in that group of four, and should emerge as our national champ.
