So the committee is officially a joke

And you finished dead last, what's your point?

Alabama - Conference champions = NO
Alabama - Division champion = NO
Alabama - State champion = NO

Same as Tennessee. That is the point.

Bama won absolutely nothing and got an A** whooping from Auburn! If they played tomorrow it would be another a** whipping.

No way they should be in. If you can't win your league, division or state championship you should be out.

i just love to see ohio state's fanbase be in total turmoil with their knickers in knots. 😁

until it’s completely decided on the field the the big10 is a weak sister to the sec, with no voting or style points, the college football champion is a joke.

fify :)

Disagree. As it stands the CFP is about getting the 4 best teams. Your talking about only conference champs getting in.
We all know even good teams lose.
Ohio State LOST TWO GAMES.

NO team with two losses should be in the CFP.

if that was the case then one loss bama should have played Georgia for the SEC, not two loss Auburn

why didnt that happen?

You can't compare the method for determining a conference champ to the method for determining a national champ. They are, and have always been, two different things.

I guess it is like the FedEx Cup or the Tour de France. You don't have to win anything to win everything

Those are your metrics. That's what you have chosen to decide the playoff. The committee made it clear from the beginning that it was only one of many variables at their disposal to decide the BEST team. The "eye test" is humanly subjective and we went to that measuring stick about 4 years ago. Where were you?

OSU is just unhappy that the BS of not winning your division didn't work in their favor this year.

Which confirms that the conference championships are meaningless.

You should be thankful. It was Alabama's inclusion in 2011 natty that got us to the 4 team playoff. Now, here comes Big, Bad Alabama, again, making the end around and a 2 team SEC race.

Why, as we speak, B1G commissioner Delaney is steaming while his beloved Ohio State and the entire B1G has been excluded. The next sound you'll hear is we are expanding to 8 teams.

And you know who you have to thank, right? The same Crimson SEC trail blazing juggernaut that had the audacity to break in line in the BCS. You are most welcome.

If conference championships should be the be-all-end-all, why even play out of conference opponents? Those games would seem rather pointless within your argument.
Great point. Maybe they shouldn't.

Then we wouldn't have this cluster**** every year.

It's like major league baseball. They ****ed that up by this retarded interleague play.

But it is all about the money.

I've ruminated on this a bit and this is where I am at the moment.

1. The the current playoff system as I understand it is supposedly to get the 4 best teams.

2. Assuming 1 is true there is nothing about winning a conference championship that assures a team is close to being a top 4 team. For instance in 2015 USC, 4 loss USC mind you, rolled into the Pac 12 championship game against Stanford. They lost but what if they'd won? Are we REALLY going to say a 4 loss team deserves to get in the playoff because they won a CCG? I'm sorry but I consider that a wholly untenable position.

3. So what is the point of the CCG at all? I think we saw some of it this year. The SECCG was a straight up playoff game as the winner was getting in regardless. Wisconsin was assured a berth if they won. These games absolutely mattered in determining the final 4.

4. There is no possible system that will work for college football that will make everyone happy.

That’s not a problem. The CFP picks the four best teams, not the four best teams that meet certain stupid criteria. That’s exactly how it should be.
Yeah, you are right. Winning a conference championship is a stupid criteria. Cant wait until we finish third and play for a NC.

my problem is that bama didn't even win their division, where as tOSU won their conference (granted a bit of a weaker conference, and they did lose twice).

Question for everybody:
Would bama have gotten in if they had beaten auburn, but then lost in the sec championship game last night? (all else the same, i.e. wisconsin loses, Clemson and OU win)

They would still be a 1 loss team from the sec, but the loss would be even more recent (obviously their one loss was also recent, being just a week ago). At least in that scenario, they would have won their division and finished 2nd in the SEC

OSU got in last year over Penn State even though PSU won their conference. There is no criteria than who they think are the 4 best teams. Hard to argue that bama isn’t one of the best 4 teams in the country

A healthy Bama team on a neutral field beats Auburn. State championship isn’t a thing in CFB
