So the NIL is supposed to bring parity

Look at aTm, where did mega $$$$ get them this year with that #1 class in 2022? Everyone is finally figuring out that the used car salesman they have as a coach can't coach to save is life. NIL is only good if your coaches know how to coach up the players and how to "Use" NIL to their advantage.

NIL probably had a lot to do with Tennessee landing a 5 star QB before this season ever started. I dont think anyone ever said it would be what keep the big guys from getting their fair share, but i would say there is more than one player in this class that is here based in large part to NIL

They’ve been doing that for like 10 years and still missed the playoffs. Nobody looked unbeatable this year. UGA is up there but let’s see how they look on a neutral field vs a team with comparable depth. All you heard in the offseason was how Bama and Clemson were gonna run away from everyone due to no parity. Bama is a 2 loss team and Clemson got power bombed by a Notre Dame with a 1st year coach and no offensive identity. There’s actually quite a bit of parity right now.

And Bama signs 6 5 stars.

NSD is still going to belong to bama and uga but it’s the ability for those kids to transfer out and get immediate eligibility (when they don’t get on the field) that’s really leveling the playing field. Bama signed 6 5 star kids but they’ve lost about 6 former 5 stars in the portal over the last 2 weeks. It’s working. And exhibit A (that it’s working) is that they aren’t in the playoffs and lost to us this year.

And alot of those players Bama signed will transfer I ain’t worried about Bama anymore their run is over and Saban has lost it. I don’t think Saban wins another national title although he will coach to 80 i’m sure and try. I’m more worried about Georgia about to win back to back with a young coach in Kirby and they continue to bring in elite recruiting classes year in and year out. Bama don’t run the SEC anymore it’s Georgia

I don’t think parity was ever a goal of NIL
Doesn’t have to be the goal but along with a 12 team playoff I do believe parity will occur.

The era of the 4 team playoff created a terrible oligarch system at the top with recruits hedging their bets. There are going to be many more options for success now.

And Bama signs 6 5 stars.

Do you think that recruiting sites just happen to rate players 5* who are main targets of Bama? Saban knows talent. He has a long history of finding and signing talent. The guys who hand out "stars"... know that.

If Heupel earns that kind of credibility then ultra talented guys like Seldon will be 5*. Guys like Jalen Smith will be strong 4*.

Who said that? NIL only a part of it. And the highest bidders get the money grabbers.

Have you been living under a rock? That’s all we have been hearing about NIL. Oh just wait until NIL gets going, Bama and UGA won’t be able to board 5*s anymore. NIL is gonna level the playing field. Guess what? It’s BS. Looking at the recruiting rankings we see the same old thing we always see. The best teams get the best players. NIL isn’t changing anything.

Good grief dude you just can’t see it. You do realize that many of the 5* players Bama offers are 5* BEFORE getting the offer right? You seem to imply that the only reason these 5* are that highly rated is because Bama offers them. As usual, you are dead wrong when it comes to this subject.

The game is still about the QB. If you have a good QB, you can win. If not, you will be average. Alabama and Georgia are replacing QBs so they have to have a good one to be playoff contenders next year. Either that QB is on the team or they will be searching for one in the transfer portal.

It's always about the money. It's always been about the money. The only reason Saban was upset about NIL was it made the price go up. His players were always the best compensated. He could pay players under the table and other teams either couldn't or were limited. Pre-NIL he could buy a top 1-2 class for $1mil. Now it's several mil.

Those saying he lost several 5 stars to the portal and that's going to level the playing field, that's wrong, imo. That allows him to cull his inferior 5 stars and take immediate production from other teams via the portal, (see Gibbs).

It has always and will continue to be about money. Winning generates more money which in turn generates more wins which generates more money ect. Bama, GA, OSU, are going nowhere anytime soon. NIL combined with the transfer portal only makes them stronger.

Heard a stat in Finebaum yesterday...42% of Bama's 2020 class is no longer on the team. This is where the parity comes in. The issue is...with signing so many 5 stars, even if only half play at 5 star level, thats still more 5 stars than most. than most.

Outside of Georgia the past 2 years, Bama has always had the most talented team on the field no matter whom they played. The issue for little Nicky isn't talent. It's control. That's what he and Dumbo are fighting with NIL. Players start getting real money and the balance of power shifts. He cannot coach like he used to. The iron fist is gone. He now has to ask and influence players to to what he wants vs telling them. The evidence was there this year. He lost to two teams that are at a major talent deficit to his program. Their delusional and idiotic fanbase will be demanding 13-0 next year. The schedule sits nicely for them. Toughest games at home (Texas, Tennessee, and LSU). They should go undefeated, but I see another 10-2 coming and massive transfers again.

Too bad for him. 52-49.

Are you okay? You seem pretty worked up. You remind me of that guy from office space that's being questioned by the two Bob's. "I'm a people person!" Take your meds and settle down.

The transfer portal is the better equalizer. Now, some of those stacked 5 stars can go elsewhere with no delay if they get tired of sitting too long. This combined with expanded playoffs will help over the coming years to create more parity. NIL ensures that only the top programs with fan & admin support can get the best players (but that isn’t concentrated to only a few teams). NIL, the transfer portal, and expanded playoffs will consolidate talent, but then also spread it out among the Top 40 Power 5 schools. Rebuilds will be quicker for programs.

The msssive amounts of penalties was one result of what you’re getting at as well. They were one of the most undisciplined Bama teams I’ve seen. It was weird to watch

Agree with above. Well stated. Will add, the transfer portal & NIL will make thoughs outside the Power 5 farm schools for talent.
