Dude was supposed to be a star receiver and I haven't even as much as heard his name...

He's a freshman. It's a little early to call him a bust. I'm sure some where saying the same about Meachem at this point.

Maybe so. But there's two true freshman starting over him on the depth chart right now.

He was an ESPN 150 4* star receiver coming out of high school. From what I seen from his highlights, he had good hands and pretty good speed. A lot of scouts said he had a similar body type to Dez Bryant coming out of high school. He has good talent and I expect him to contribute the years he's here.

Yet another bust. Kind of the story of the program over the last half decade.

Peerless Price had a grand total of 71 yards receiving his Freshman year and he turned out ok. Maybe Bowles never contributes at WR but it's way to early to label him a bust.

I do agree I thought we would see more from him then we have though.

Maybe if Meachem didn't lead the team in receiving his Freshman year and make the Freshman All SEC team. His breakout year was as a Junior but he still led the Vols in receiving all 3 years he was here. Plus we went 5-6 deep in quality receivers when Meachem played.

I won't consider him a bust until he's longer at UT.

Any player can breakout at any given moment. This season might be the motivation to have a killer off season.

Maybe he was used to getting by on pure-talent and didn't work hard, and now he's discovered everyone's at the same level of talent---it's those who work hard that excel. Maybe he'll show out off-season and use it for motivation at the gym.

Don't discount our boys till the clock hits 0:00.

I still agree though, it's a little early to consider him a bust.

Maybe so. With all the hype that comes with these kids out of high school these days from the media and recruiting services, it's easy to get sucked into the "instant impact player" spiel. I'm as guilty of it as anybody, so no finger-pointing here. Sometimes you have to pinch yourself and remember that no matter how big or fast your team's prized new freshman is, last year he was playing against 18 year-olds and going to prom and now he's facing off against veteran 21 year-old future NFLers and playing in 100,000 seat stadiums. Even elite talents aren't going to be worth much without the kind of coaching & development you get from spending time in the system.

Seems like I heard he is still battling a shoulder injury. I think we should give him more than six games before we call him a bust.

The worst thing you can do to a kid is compare him to a bona fide superstar. Jmo.
