So, Who Is The Starting QB?

I hope Ferguson is the man. Need to have one quarterback really step...last season quarterbacks threw only 10 touchdown passes.. From reports Ferguson has best arm.. better runner than given credit. With Lane and Hurd receiving group and new tight ends, should not have to run a great deal...other huge key is the development of offensive line.. He may be running for his life. Hope Ferguson leg injury is not a problem

To play devil's advocate, both have strong enough arms and guys with cannon's are not always the best to lead the team (See Crompton, J.; Stephens, N.).

Lets just see what happens and support the leader.

Hmmmmm - possible come fall?

Ferguson - starting QB
Worley - 1st backup QB
Dobbs - 2nd backup QB, with some TE time
Peterman - transfers to greener fields soon.

Not sure how that would play since we WILL need a solid backup QB after next year - hopefully not this year but last years pile of injuries can always happen

Worley made a near perfect throw on Pearson's TD. Dobbs threw a poor ball that was intercepted.

Jarnell Stokes will be the QB come fall practice. Anyone who says any different is a damn liar....and I'll back it up with my fists if a body wants to try me.

Dobberman Furley. I heard he's sleek, agile, intelligent, loyal, and aggressive to strangers visiting Rocky Top.

I really want to see what Ferguson can do. That being said, my gut is telling me Worley is the qb come the Utah State game.

Ok, put Ferg in. As soon as a DT jumps on his fractured leg we can pull him out and put Dobbs in for good.

I may be a Dobbs man but I hope what you speculate never happens. Whoever is our QB, we need at least two others capable of coming in with little or no drop off. May they all stay healthy and ready to bring it on a moment's notice.

Ainge sounds like he's really excited about Ferguson. Said it was early and he needs to be consistent but EA was impressed

Your point?

That he made a near perfect throw on the TD caught by VP. One throw out of hundreds they'll throw in the spring... but a perfect throw nonetheless for a guy that many here claim has "no talent".

"No talent" is an exaggeration on your part....most see Dobbs or Ferguson as having more...I hope we get this decided by the end of the day.

Kindly show me the post where someone on VN said that Rifleman Riley has no talent. I've seen a few saying we haven't seen him in action so don't know if he's all that. But I recall none saying he was a bust or a meerkat with merit. A toothless tiger. A talentless tumbler. A worthless wombat or anything similar along those lines. Direct me to the post, please or forever hold your piece.

Someone give one legitimate reason why Ferguson will start. I think next year the spot could be his...but he has never even taken a college snap. If he starts over a senior leader in Worley or an experienced and scheme fitting QB in Dobbs I will be stunned.

In the end I wish the best for all our guys. But Worley will start this season . Book it.

I wouldn't be stunned. unlike Fulmer, if a player exhibits superior skill over and upperclassman, Butch will start him. So if Rifleman really is all he's hyped, he's on. But he doesn't seemed to have put on much SEC weight since arrival compared to the other two QBs. He could start but get broken. On the other hand, I think Johnny Football was about the same weight when he first started, so. . . .

No. Not very much of an exaggeration if any at all. People have piled on me for daring to question the coaching staff. Some of the same folks have ridiculed Worley.

But if it offends you then I'll just say that MANY have claimed he didn't have the talent to be an SEC QB. That was most definitely an SEC caliber throw.

You've confused me or yourself. I was talking about Worley, not Ferguson.

I have actually posted little about RF except to take on some posters that claim he's "the answer" without having ever seen him actually play on the CFB level. It sounds as if he has plenty of talent. IMHO, all four UT QB's have SEC level talent.

Post #66 makes a liar out of you. sjt18, I won't be directly addressing you further nor seeing direct posts by you. I've had some less than pleasant exchanges, some even childish with a number of VN'ers. But here's the difference, we reached a point where we just stopped shooting and moved on to other topics. Some of which we agreed and some we didn't. Yeah, we still fought again periodically, but we stopped again too. It never really became a perpetual running piss me off, I piss you off and raging across thread things. I think also there's a distinction between disagreeing, even attacking someone over a disagreement, and hunting for a fight.

I lived out in remote areas of the Southwest so can tell you the wild wild west and law west of Pecos attitudes remain in certain remote and far-flung desert areas. Yep, folks having gunfights, looking for someone for whatever reason to settle matters once and for all. But see here, VN shouldn't be that way and that's how your conduct consistently comes across.

So for now, I won't be seeing your posts anymore. I leave suggesting you learn to love your team enough to not constantly denigrate them. And not attack people on VN just for h3ll of it. And no, I don't think I'm better than you. If anything I'm periodically worse and marvel that Freak has put up with me all this time. And yep, he has in times past sent me a, uh, ahem. . .cautionary email. So don't see it as me thinking I'm better than you cause I'm not. Rather as suggesting you holster the revolver instead of drawing it at the drop of a hat. Making statements, then denying you did. Repeatedly posting your arguments from thread to thread. Believe me, some folks just get tired of it. Adios, bub.

I want someone who can deliver the ball and make good decisions. That is not too much too ask I think. Nice footwork would be a bonus.

I would really like to see something worth getting excited about with regard to our play calling. Hopefully we have some kind of varied scheme and a QB who can implement all aspects of it.
