So, Who Is The Starting QB?

Post #66 makes a liar out of you. sjt18, I won't be directly addressing you further nor seeing direct posts by you.
Since this guy has gone all coward on me... can someone tell me how post #66 made me a liar, a critic of any of the 4 QB's, or any of that other non-sense?

So for now, I won't be seeing your posts anymore. I leave suggesting you learn to love your team enough to not constantly denigrate them.
Just in case.... I love my team. The coaching staff has not earned trust yet. For that matter, your critics aren't necessarily your enemies and your flatterers aren't necessarily your friends.

And not attack people on VN just for h3ll of it. .

Wow. Pot... meet kettle.

I want someone who can deliver the ball and make good decisions. That is not too much too ask I think. Nice footwork would be a bonus.

I would really like to see something worth getting excited about with regard to our play calling. Hopefully we have some kind of varied scheme and a QB who can implement all aspects of it.

I am bullish on UT's O... and getting more so with some of the reports.

I am still "bearish" on the D until the DC proves himself.

The practice notes and interviews / videos have been encouraging. The team at least looks excited and happy with the new blood.

Hope springs eternal I guess...just so ready to win again.

No. Not very much of an exaggeration if any at all. People have piled on me for daring to question the coaching staff. Some of the same folks have ridiculed Worley.

But if it offends you then I'll just say that MANY have claimed he didn't have the talent to be an SEC QB. That was most definitely an SEC caliber throw.

Seems like a lot of people JUMPING THE GUN AND JUDGING BEFORE THE FACTS ARE IN...hate those people...don't you? :haha_oh:

Yep. That's why I have only judged what the staff actually accomplished in their first season and HAVE NOT made any declarations about what they WOULD do in the future.

Last year was not good. I have not said it was the final result and HOPE that it is not indicative of their ability.:good!:

That he made a near perfect throw on the TD caught by VP. One throw out of hundreds they'll throw in the spring... but a perfect throw nonetheless for a guy that many here claim has "no talent".

Look, as you know, I'm one of the Worley supporters on here along with you. But I'm not putting much stock in the one throw with helmets and shorts on, which might've covered 20 yards and distance, the 2nd practice of Spring. Knew what you were saying, just thought it was a bit of a stretch.

My dream scenario would be: Riley Ferguson emerging as our starting QB early this spring, and him being coached up and fine tuned by the legendary passing game coordinator, Jim Bob Cooter.

:lolabove:

And I STILL don't understand what about post #66 offended him to the point of going off like that.

I do get the irony though of attacking someone for supposedly attacking someone who just attacked the second person... for some phantom offense in post #66.

Waiting for Orange and White game before I even start to guess. By then, I hope it is pretty much decided. I sure as heck don't want until the Friday before the Utah State game for it to be decided. That would tell me none of them are ready.

Not sure why folks say Rifleman doesnt have SEC Weight

Riley has added 20+ pounds,Pretty sure he went from 173-198.

Agree. 6'2-6'3, ~200 is fine, especially for an athletic kid with good feet and a big arm. Gotta believe he puts another 10-12lbs on between now and fall camp. I don't worry about his size at all.

I'm not trying to argue with you because I have enjoyed reading most of your posts over the years, but I recall you being pretty supportive of the staff during the Dooley years. Butch has already accomplished much more in a single year and recruiting cycle than Dooley did during his tenure.

I guess I'm just confused.

No. You aren't wrong. I was wrong. It was my feeling at the time that a fan should give the benefit of the doubt... to minimize the negative. I still do not believe in the kinds of early condemnations that I argued against when Dooley was around. However taking a "wait and see" while being critical of shortcomings and praising accomplishments seems to be a more honest approach.

Because I have sounded "negative" with some criticisms and dissatisfaction with the '13 season, some here pretty much ignore the praise I give. I just need to adjust to that I suppose. I think the '13 season was subpar but am hopeful it was not indicative of what we will see from Jones and Co.

Several here have attempted to put words in my mouth or just call me a "hater". I have NOT said Jones would fail. I have NEVER said anything other than that I hoped he would succeed. But I won't look at some of what happened in '13 and pretend it was positive.

Butch, you know better than to ask these silly questions on Vol Nation, but good luck anyway!

I appreciate the response, sjt. I'm always going to lean towards the optimistic side, but I agree that Dooley and even the Buzz Peterson era in basketball have tempered me a bit.

That being said, I agree that last season, as a whole, was subpar. However, Butch has won me over with his recruiting and the way that he has been able to market UT as a brand.

When you are able to bring in top 5 talent consistently, coaching on Saturday becomes much easier.
