Oh yes we were. In the mid eighties I had some white turf shoes with the orange swoosh on them that matched the football teams exactly.
You sure??.......
"Nike is especially proud to resume our association with the University of Tennessee," Nike sports marketing director Kit Morris said. "We admire their rich tradition and are enthusiastic to begin working once again with Volunteer student-athletes, coaches and programs."
After 18 years apart, the University of Tennessee athletics department will retain NIKE as its official apparel provider on July 1, 2015. The eight-year contract signed this week is valued at roughly $35 million. The school has 17 months remaining on its current contract with adidas.
Tennessee was a NIKE school previously but switched to adidas in 1997. Thus, the new contract is a reunion of sorts.

We once purchased Nike shoes for our football and basketball teams to wear, but they were never a sponsor as Adidas is today. We have never worn a Nike jersey in any team sport.
Kinda splitting hairs aren't we? Both UT and Nike put out statements talking about "resuming" our relationship and how we were a "Nike school" prior to switching to Adidas in the late '90s. Apparel contracts between schools and companies like Nike and Adidas have evolved considerably the last decade or 2. UT and Nike say we were a "Nike school" before the recent Adidas contract.... good enough for me.
I had a pair of Nike cleats blow up on me during a game, just like the video. Havent bought Nike shoes since then
Hasn't some dude named Tiger done pretty well with Nike?
''Well, maybe one,'' Mickelson said. ''He hates that I can fly it past him now. He has a faster swing speed than I do, but he has inferior equipment. Tiger is the only player who is good enough to overcome the equipment he's stuck with.''
Nike pays the best to endorse their products. They signed Tiger to a multi-million deal the second he went pro. If it weren't for Tiger there would be no Nike Golf. He won with inferior equipment early on. Nike has gotten better but they are not as good as Ping, Taylormade, Callaway or Titleist. I don't know if Tiger would have won more or less with different equipment but I do believe he could have won with Spalding clubs from Wal-Mart when he had his run. If you remember he put his Titleist driver back in his bag which sort of confirmed Mickelson saying Nike was inferior.
