I used to do it for free helping my father in law. Fun times.

This would have been late 60s, early 70s. Actually he paid everyone else about a $1 an hour cropping. But I did the same amount of work. I guess a bed and three squares a day was included. But I think the two or three cents a stick for unstringing is about right. And spend a day loading a barn with flue-cured tobacco and you'll know one thing: you have done a day's labor.
