Softball Changes

Well said! With that said, you better enjoy your last two regular season titles. CKW’s run at UT has just about run its course. I have rooted for the Weekly’s forever, but I think it’s about time for them to go enjoy the lake and put down the clipboard.
Retirement by choice or pushed out?

That would be my preferred method. They have earned that at this point but some coaching changes need to be done moving forward.
What coaching changes are you even talking about? Ralph is not a member of the coaching staff, hasn’t been in three years. With this move, 2 of the 3 assistant coaches will have turned over in that same period and the third assistant is the pitching coach, whose staff just led the nation in ERA.

The team is coming off a three-year run of winning two SEC Titles, an SEC Tournament Championship, and a third-place finish nationally. The team was top three in the SEC in both home runs and ERA in each of the three seasons.

Lol! Do we need to make any staff changes?

Well, yes, given that we had coaches depart to Auburn.

But, given the record over the past two years, I woulda been just fine running it back with what we had.

With that said, we do need to get better offensively. But it’s hard to say if that is more of a talent (player) or development (coaching) issue. The replacement hitting coach appears to be a strong hire, so the development side should be covered going forward. We also have a strong recruiting class, so we should have another competitive team next season.

I wonder if there wasn’t an implied discussion about a head-coach-in-waiting deal

You don’t get someone to walk away from a top 2 recruiting class without offering something extraordinary.

More money and a chance to coach with your soon to be wife. Texas Tech NIL club was giving 10K to each softball player. Pretty strong deal to lure kids if that was still in play.

This is a big upgrade and I’m floored that we were able to convince a P5 HC to be an assistant here.

Snider had the #2 recruiting class in the country coming to Texas Tech.

I repeat, at TEXAS TECH
Maybe some of his recruits will follow him to Tennessee.

Remind me what we have done once the post season starts the last 10 years. CKW has proven she can’t get it done once post season starts. She is a great regular season coach. Not so much in post season. No team in post season fears playing a CKW team. She coaches scared and not to lose in post season. All the records you are mentioning above happened in the regular season. I think you are smart enough to figure out what coach needs to start thinking about staying on the lake and not ruining her/their legacy. They have had a great run but with Texas and Oklahoma coming into this league, her regular season titles are in the past.

Her legacy isn’t at stake right now or anytime soon. If she hits the Fulmer stage in a few years we can revisit legacy. Regular season titles are tougher for Texas and OU as well.

The difference is some coaches (See OU) get their teams ready for tournament play. Regular season titles mean nothing. Can you tell me who won the regular season tile in SEC in 2021?Probably not but we all know who has won 4 consecutive National Championships. CKW should really consider her time at UT as a great achievement. I do as well, but her best years are behind her. It’s time to start thinking about passing the baton and not staying too long.

If Four Consecutive Nattys is your standard…then good luck!
