Gourley also crowhops. Now you know why Florida's Pitching is so good. Its illegal

Stephanie Brombacher was very well-known for leaping at Florida and did it on virtually every pitch.

A lot of the best pitchers were illegal. Taryn Mowatt was a known replanter/crowhopper. Probably the worst I've ever seen, TBH. She was also outside of the width of the pitching rubber quite a bit -- this was before there was a chalk "lane". Blair Luna at Texas was also bad about being outside of the lane -- except in her case she was oddly always on the right side of the lane, not the left. Cat Osterman leaped A LOT in her days at Texas. Jordan Taylor at Michigan had that funky windup where her backfoot always came off the rubber when she wound back to deliver the pitch -- didn't really give her an advantage, however. Also Kenzie Fowler at Arizona was a bad leaper, too.

Yeah but this is a staff deal so its being taught at UF to all the pitchers by the coaches.

Well, in the spirit of "fairness", let's hope that Gabby S can learn to leap half way to the plate and release it. She's over 6" so she should be delivering it around 35 feet

Why don't one of you with a facebook or twitter account ask Cheri Kempf what she thinks about Barnhill and why she thinks nobody wants to talk about it. She's as qualified as anybody to answer. Star pitcher in college, pros and USA National team. Taught pitching for years. She may be afraid to answer but it's worth a try. I'd ask but I don't have any social media accounts.

Why doesn't someone ask Monica Abbott?
One of the very best I have watch pitch

If the SEC coaches got together and said enough is enough with this crow hop stuff, it would at least slow down some....Is there some kind of chivalry in play here....

Someone with twitter could give that a try. She had a reputation for being illegal also so she may not want to narc on another pitcher. Since it's mostly internet message board chatter and you don't hear anybody with credibility say it publicly, it's like nobody wants to be known as a snitch. Has anybody heard an announcer or analyst bring it up on a telecast? In regards to Barnhill specifically? I know the rare times an illegal pitch is called they will comment on that specific incident.

I've had it confirmed by SEC Network analyst and SEC coach. They just said it wasn't being called. There's some sort of oddness that goes on. Have even seen blogs where actual referees saw Barnhill throw illegally but know it hasn't been called, so they don't want to be the first.

It will have to come from above.

I watched a lot of Abbotts games at UT and can say 99% of her pitches were legal

I wouldn't know how to put a % on it but she liked to step forward with her pivot foot a couple inches. She got called on it some.

Great interview on Sports Animal today with Jimmy Hyams. Lead off the 4 o'clock hour with a 10 min or so interview.
