Softball Week 3 - USF Tournament

Just here to say once again that the game versus the Olympic team is going to be rough.

I’m not proposing we get rid of the Weeklys. But given they’re a packaged deal, it’s going to be hard to get rid of them both, huh?

This team is young. Give them time to grow. Don’t go firing the coaches yet. They’ve put to much into this program to be thrown away like that!

Honestly the game against the Olympic team is the least of their worries. That game doesn’t count for anything. The games they need to be worried about are the SEC games and if they can’t beat these teams they are playing today, I have some serious worries about beating the SEC teams.

our offense has went away ever since that mexico tournament. our pitching isn’t horrible, but with ashley it would be stronger. even with ashley, if our offense don’t start stepping up, we will lose a lot of games.

Well just got in and saw the score and thought well we are hitting better but to this point we have three hits to eleven strikeouts so still nowhere near what we want. Baserunning seemed to help at least from box score.

Well after the post they started hitting!

I’d like to see some leadership emerge from this. Something needs to happen, hitting is an attitude/confidence thing. All these ladies played at high levels and did well. There certainly is an adjustment period but our schedule hasn’t been top notch and they’re struggling against mediocre pitching. I wonder if they’re limiting live practice hitting in fear of overusing a pitcher they didnt know they were going to need.
Another thing that gripes me, and it’s got to hurt recruiting, is the lack of television time we routinely get year after year because of the tournaments we choose. Meanwhile everyone else in the SEC is on tv 2-3 times a week. High profile kids want to be on high profile teams. Losing and lack of exposure is gonna hurt, especially when hosting a regional appears all but lost.

This team could be what it is now or turn into one of the best teams in the country in the next few weeks. Depending on this many freshmen and sophomores can be a difficult challenge. Players like Milloy, Webber, McCrary, Willingham, and others are expected to be stars at this level. Certainly taking some time for that to happen freshmen don't always develop as expected sometimes it takes longer. Callie is going to be a very good pitcher for Tennessee I can see a lot of ability just needs to get better control of her pitches. She hasn't had the greatest luck this season and minimal run support. Hopefully it all comes together only time will tell. The future is still bright for Tennessee softball all these players I believe will eventually become stars don't know if it will happen this season.

she played
She played in first game had a key strikeout with bases loaded one out and then Webber played at first second game. Didn’t get to listen to second game til the end so don’t know if there was a reason given for Webber starting, but Webber did have a good game hitting.

Nobody is getting fired even if we don't win another game this season.

Have to go to jc anyway will swing by and see what happens. Had tickets right behind plate first row and will probably not get to see them play at all.

I get that it doesn’t count for anything, but if we get pummeled, at least we can chock it up to them being the best athletes in the world and that it won’t affect Selection Sunday I guess. Nevermind team morale or player confidence. I know it’s on the schedule so there’s no getting out of it, but I’d be hard pressed to buy that it’s not on their minds or won’t be for a few days after. I hope I’m wrong about all of it. If we manage a win or even keep it close, it would be a great turning point. Just don’t see it happening yet.
