At this point, Holcomb has to sit. No matter how well she plays in the outfield, she can't keep stepping out like this. The ump can call her out every single time. Too big of a liability, especially in key situations. It is on the coaches now.As she should have. No adjustment in last two years so I guess coaches don't emphasise it!
Hard to lay blame on the cf unless she didnt call it. The rf was wayy too close and was in her periphery almost causing a collision. She should’ve peeled back to back her up and let the cf make the play. It was an error but I would want to know if there was any communication out thereThat one was a gut punch especially after being out in the cold all day. It may be time to rethink CF and put Hannon back out there. Holcomb will be called out 90 percent of the time in conference play. It should have been fixed last year too late now. Maybe put Milloy in left. Lose some D but gain some offense.
Agree! Every SEC coach knows about Holcomb at this point. It is pointless to let her slap anymore. They will be looking for her to step out of the box at every bat. She isn’t a lost cause though. She can hit away and her defense is the best in the outfield. I would still play her but probably not any more slapping from her.Deciding who is going to play where seems to be a tough decision as we keep changing everyone up game to game. JMO I don't think Ralph and coaches are spending much time on teaching the players the fundamentals and communication they need to have to play the game. 30 plus errors already and players don't know who is supposed to catch a fly ball are problems no team should have to deal with. Poor Turner walks a lot of batters, but she usually gets a playable ball that could end a tough inning and way to much of the time an easy play is muffed. Holcomb stepping out of the box would shelve her for the season. She is a senior if she hasn't took the time to correct that in the last three seasons no reason for her to ever play another game here.
I don't know if she can stand in there and hit . We do need her in the field. Slapping is definitely out she learned a way to do it probably in grammar school on up and is now a habit she can't break. The rule killed her game and actually killed slapping for the game.Agree! Agree. The CF is the captain out there and has to make the play. She also has to call off the RF and I'm not sure she did. Would like to know, but it was definitely on Milloy to call it and make the play.Hard to lay blame on the cf unless she didnt call it. She can and does it from time to time but yes slapping is her “game” but she can hit away.I don't know if she can stand in there and hit . We do need her in the field.
