Softball Week 3 - USF Tournament

I'm all for moving McCrary to third and making Webber the DH Phillips headed toward the .150 mark. I know she is the backup catcher and occasionally launches one her contact this season hasn't been what you would expect from a second year player. Stressful game they kept scoring got us down by three and we kept responding with runs to stay in it. Ayala amazing all season most improved player on the team. Turner starting to show a little arm tiredness couldn't find the plate today didn't look comfortable. Who we going to pitch against ETSU both Bender and Turner huge amount of pitches in that long game.

Ayala was really bad her early at bats then came alive. Turner has control issues, what she has too is some nasty stuff don’t throw the baby out with bath water just yet. We have rode her like a rented mule too. Sat near a number of parents. They are just like we were/are with our kids. Good people.

I agree Milloy needs to hit or sitt

I hate to lose Phillips's power but if she can't make contact, then she eliminating it herself. Four K's today takes you out of the lineup. They have to give someone else a shot until she shows in practice that she is cleaning up her issues. The changes you suggest are worth a look. Of course, Webber was hitting .133 entering today, so hopefully that improves. Can't bench everyone, but sometimes they need to sit for a couple of games just to refocus and take off the pressure.

I figure Philips will have to catch game two today. I really thought that Phillips would be vastly improved at the plate this season. She hit .246 last season thought she would get around the .300 mark which would be an excellent improvement over last year. I like her power but not enough of it is being shown. The big difference between her and Webber is Webber has been getting her rips hit a lot of balls at people making contact. Phillips other than a double yesterday has been mostly striking out.

The best freshman thus far of the hitters is McCrary really thought Milloy would be doing more. She was like top five in the nation. Biggest surprise with her is how she doesn't make that much contact a lot of strikeouts. I was expecting her to be the new leadoff hitter and be on base about 45 percent of the time.

I think when Turner learns to get that first or second pitch in for strikes and get ahead of the hitters the strikeouts will go up. Right now she gets behind to many hitters and is always trying to recover. Getting ahead of hitter is the huge thing that Rogers does. Turner figures out how to get ahead of the batters she will become a very tough pitcher to hit. She has no trouble pumping a strike when she gets behind 3 and 0. I would like to see her pump that strike in there on the first pitch.

Shipman never gives the pitcher a target. Keeps her glove down to the side of her leg. Strange.

I am glad you mention that because I noticed it last year and this year as well. Not sure but must have been taught that as many years she has been a catcher!
